I want results now

Posted on: Fri 14 Aug 2009

"I've been into the press room twice now and said virtually the same thing twice and that was 'they are not doing as they are told' and 'they are doing their own thing'.  They didn't do this at all last season and I am slowly finding out why it's changed.  The difference between the first half and the second half on Tuesday night, and against quality opposition, was incredible.  The game plan was to play like we did in the second half, in the first half, but for some reason we didn't."

"To lose a goal so early as well does knock you, but if there is a game plan in place, you have to stick to that.  If you concede, then you concede but if you stick to the game plan you are going to create chances, but the chances are that you're not going to concede again and it will be very difficult for them to score again. That was the disappointing thing for me, more frustrating that anything else because we haven't changed.  We are not trying to do anything differently.  Out of possession we are trying to be difficult to be beat but at the moment, three goals on Saturdays and two on Tuesday and to be fair, they could have had more in the first half.  That's the thing that frustrates me.  I'm trying to base everything on being hard to beat, then I know I have some quality at the other end of the pitch."

"David Worrall spoke to Brassy after the game, the first thing he said was 'we only did the shape yesterday'.  We don't pick a team then throw them out.  We pick a team, work on it, work on the opposition and come up with the plan and what's best suited for us - now go and do it.  I'm disappointed about losing 3-0.The way we play, we shouldn't lose 3-0 - it's simple."

"I didn't use harsh words to change it; all I did was tell them the truth.  The truth wasn't harsh; you just tell them the truth.  The players are prepared before they go onto the pitch.  Once they go onto the pitch then they are responsible.  That's what frustrates me, we know exactly the way we play, what we do and how we do it and it hasn't been done so far, but the good thing is - its only two games not 32 games, There is plenty of time to fix it, but I want it done now.  I want results now."

"I hope the second goal on Saturday is as bad as its going to be.  Everything about it was wrong, a free header, unchallenged in the middle of the box was pretty poor."

"Andy Bishop will train with the first team squad on Thursday.  Andy Morrell has been with the squad this week and the back end of last week.  He probably needs a game, but we might have him on the bench on Saturday, he may even get twenty minutes at Darlington.  He does look ok in training but because of the games we have, we haven't been able to arrange a game for him, so he might get twenty minutes on Saturday.  Damien Allen should be back in training on Monday as well."
