We deserved it

Posted on: Sun 16 Aug 2009

"We are up and running, and I have to say - I thought we deserved it over the 90 minutes  .I thought we were pretty good and we moved the ball around well and looked a threat.  The only thing that was worrying me was that we didn't look like scoring.  We got into some good situations and didn't score.  At 0-0 you're always a little bit worried.  Then we got the goal and you kind of think that's it.1-0, but we had a difficult last ten minutes.  You have to understand that they are going for it and are throwing bodies forward.   For us to be better we have to keep the ball better."

"That's the way to do it; you frustrate your opponents by keeping the ball a lot better and keeping it away from our goal.bbWe didn't do that, we gave them the ball back and put ourselves under pressure, but - we have some young players. I know they are talented and I know that they will learn.  When it was needed at the back, some of the challenges were fantastic.  We have a thing where its win at all costs and I just thought that's what we did on Saturday.  When somebody needed to throw their body in to block, they did."

"Jordan Robertson is a top player, and I have to say a big thank you to Kevin Blackwell and Sam Ellis, but the main one is Terry Robinson.  As soon as we lost Danny Carlton we made an enquiry straight away.  We saw him in pre-season and didn't think he was figuring in their first team, so we made an enquiry and we are delighted that he has come to us."

It's a massive thank you to them.  Terry Robinson has been excellent for us.  There were a number of clubs in for him, we've seen his quality and obviously we are delighted that he has come to play for us.  He's a top player.  He lead the line and has played in the Championship, he was on loan at Southampton and has played for Sheffield United.  The good thing is, he's only 21 and there is plenty to come, hopefully we can bring that out."

"He's not unknown to us, yes we did see him score two against us in pre-season, but he is not a player that is unknown in the football circles.  As soon as he became available, he was an easy one for us to go and get.  Hopefully we can make him a better player, that's the idea - he comes here, plays for us until January and then we will see what happens after that."

"His all round game is very good and when the ball goes upto him, it stays up there.  He's difficult to play against because he has good feet as well.  He's always looking to turn and pass it around people and to get into the box, he's a very good player."
