We need to impress at home
"What a difference a week makes, and after such a poor game at home. It was a poor result and then a poor first half performance against West Brom but to bounce back with two away wins is pretty good. I thought we dominated at Darlington and if anything I thought we were sloppy at the top end and could have been out of sight before those last ten minutes came. I suppose you can't have everything but as long as we learn and we get better."
"Obviously we did learn and get better for Tuesday. I was delighted with the result and performance. That was a difficult game, Hereford has come down from League One and it's just a really difficult fixture. Even though we were going into it on the back of a win, we competed in the first half without playing great football, but in the second half - we just took over, dominated and played really well."
"I had a friend at Hereford on Tuesday night; he goes to a lot of games. He phoned me on Thursday and said that it was one of the best team performances that he had seen in a long while. We were delighted with the reaction that we got off the players after the poor start to the season. Tuesday night is how I play, that's how we played last year and that's how you stick to a game plan. I don't ask anyone to do something that I know they can't do."
"Domaine Rouse came in on Tuesday and took his chance. When I first came here I was told by a good friend to take a look at the kid Rouse because he is going to be a really good player, so I did and he just looks like somebody that does have an unbelievable talent but he has been allowed to just do what he wants. In the time that I have been here we have been trying to change that. This is a team game and it doesn't matter how much talent you've got, you have to fit into a team and do exactly the same as everyone else. If they are in at ten o'clock, then you have to be in at ten o'clock, you can't just turn up when you feel like it. There have been some difficult times with him, and they are still ongoing. He's got all the talent but he just needs to get himself together, get his life in order and be focussed. He has to decide whether this is the career he wants to take because he is a talent. We will help him get that, but I can only help him if he is going to help himself."
"I watched Grimsby pre-season against Leeds United and they were very good. Mike Newell has a real squad as well. There is the side that played and then there is around another ten that have all played in this league. Plus they have experience. I don't really judge form now, its ten games at least before you look at form of any side. It can change and it has changed for us. It changes so quickly and you know that anybody in this league on their day can beat anybody else. It will throw up results all over the place all the time and it will be the same for Grimsby coming here to play us."
"If you want proof of what can happen, then look at last year. They came here without a win - and won. Last year is last year though, it doesn't matter. At the end of the season we where were we where because of results throughout the season."
"The most important thing now is bringing those performances back home. If you are going to be successful, you have to win at home. You will be judged on your home form. It does matter what you do away from home, but most of our fans come here to watch us. You need to impress at home and make Gigg Lane a tough place to come to."
