Ridiculous and disappointing

Posted on: Wed 11 Nov 2009

"Its hard to stomach going out of two cup competitions in a matter of days, but in both games, we've given ourselves a mountain to climb. You just can't do that and on Tuesday we were a goal down inside the first minute - it's ridiculous and disappointing."

"In the second half we were a lot better, but the end result is that we lose the game 3-2.We got back in the game and then concede the poorest goal where the centre forward has a tap in - in the middle of the box with nobody near him. There were some poor decisions being made."

"The cross into the box for the final goal was never going to be a goal, but we got pulled out to him and cannot recover from that. It's disappointing. This is as disappointed that I have been since the last time we played Accrington after that first half performance. The second half was a lot better but it shouldn't take me to do what happened at half time to get people going, especially if they want better careers. They need to push themselves more.It doesn't take the manager, they know what I expect, yet it takes a massive push at half time to get them going."

"Just be aggressive, that is all I am asking. We've conceded five goals in two games, that's too easy.Any goal that we concede is too easy. They are not great goals. The two on Saturday and the three at Accrington were not great goals."

"Cameron Belford made some good saves to keep us in the game and he's done really well. That first half set the tone for us, just like it did on Saturday. We try our best to get them going, but that first half performance is just not acceptable, as was the first half performance on Saturday. We can make all the excuses that we like such as no squad or no players. There were eleven players out there that are good enough to compete. In the first half on Saturday and the first half on Tuesday, we didn't compete."

"Ryan Lowe has twisted his knee, obviously we are hopeful that it isn't bad and he is ok.Andy Morrell came on but I really didn't want to put him on.He's had two days of training with us after being out for five weeks.I really did not want to use him, if anything it was going to be ten minutes.Unfortunately we had to and he's had a good run around. It is really difficult that we can't be as organised as we want to be, we can't work on shape because we haven't got the players. It's really tough at the moment, but it's probably tough for a lot of teams."

"We are trying desperately to bring somebody in, but we are working within a price range plus also it's got to be somebody that can come in and play.I could easily go and get a young kid with no league experience, but that will not be the greatest for us.We have to be selective but the longer it goes, the worst it's getting."
