Its a big game for the media

Posted on: Fri 13 Nov 2009

"On Wednesday morning, anyone walking into the treatment room would have found all four strikers. The last one of them went down on Tuesday night when Ryan Lowe twisted his knee. It's disappointing but we are kind of used to it now.Alan bent has told me that with Lowey going down, every single player in the squad has been injured at one point this season."

"We just have to get over it and get through it.Andy Morrell got half an hour in on Tuesday; he was a little tired after it, but its one of those things. He is going to have to get fit in the games.Ryan Lowe will be a week to two weeks; he's strained his knee ligaments."

"It's brilliant to have Andy Morrell back, but on Tuesday night I was only really looking at ten minutes' for him.I didn't really want to put him on so early, but I asked him if he wanted to get on.He said he would have a go, he did and he ran around. Its not a formation anymore, its just go out there, run around and play the game.Andy was a little sore on Wednesday morning, he didn't do too much on Thursday but he has trained today."

"I said last week that I thought we would have somebody in on Monday, but that just did not work out.Ideally I wanted him in for Tuesday and that didn't happen. There's not much I can do about it, I'm relying on other people making a decision. The players we were looking at were at Championship level. They are all on international break and they are in no rush to do anything, but thankfully we've got Danny Nardiello in for a month."

"He's the player we wanted; he's proven at levels above us.It came out of the blue as well, when we hear d about Ryan Lowe it turned out to be pretty desperate, especially with Notts County on Saturday - it's a big game. The last thing I wanted to do was to go with no fit strikers.I asked a friend of mine if he knew of any strikers available, he came back with that name so I asked the question.Ian Holloway gave it the ok and then it was a little negotiation with their chief exec on the wages.Thankfully their chairman has done us a really big favour."

'Even though it is really tough and frustrating, you wonder where the next one is coming from - it's a good learning curve in that you don't press the panic button. You just get on with it and try to make the best out of it.The players have all done that, they have tried their best, even the games we have lost, and they have done unbelievably well.Aldershot may have been a game too far, it might have been too much to expect, but we are still disappointed because we have lost two games. Two defeats out of the last 12 games, is still pretty good."

"As a group, they do everything that they ask me to do and do it to the best of their ability. As a manager or coach, that's all you can ask, they've been fantastic. It's been a frustrating and disappointing week.I've been disappointed with the way we started both games. On Saturday at 2-0 down, you can't do that. You can't give a team like Aldershot a two goal start, even though we battered them in the second half but there keeper never had a shot to save."

"Being a goal down inside a minute cost us the game on Tuesday. The whole of the first half performance was the exact opposite of what I had planned for the team to do, and I let them know that at half time."

"The high profile that Notts County now have has raised the profile of the entire division. The media interest on Thursday was good to see.Everything that goes on at meadow Lane is good for this league. The amount of money that they have available to them would be difficult to deal with and obviously I was disappointed when Ian McParlane left the football club, but nothing surprises me anymore. All of a sudden, Bury v Notts County has become a big game to the media, plus its live 'in vision' on Sky on Saturday."
