It will be a tough game

Posted on: Fri 20 Nov 2009

"Saturday was a great game, just what everyone wanted to see, but if anything was disappointing, it was the score because we were in the lead, but to just be involved with a game like that is fantastic.  It was so entertaining and I was delighted after that firstly we competed really well and then we showed a threat.  Obviously there were some things that I wasn't too keen on, but in general, it was just a great game."

"It was so attack minded and it's the kind of football that everyone wants to watch, it was just really good.  Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say that they are a good team and they have some really good players, but I thought we caused them lots of problems as well."

"Considering the conditions, the pitch and the weather - it was a really good game of football.  Both teams passed it and moved the ball around.  We saw some really good individual ability and it was a really enjoyable game.  For the biggest crowd of the season, it was entertaining, so we had a big crowd and they saw a really good game."

"I've not talked to the grounds man about the goal that never was. I was too embarrassed, because when I saw it, I was off down the touchline celebrating, thinking that was it at 3-2 but when I turned round I couldn't understand why Casper Schmeichel had the ball in his hands, and their bench were all looking at my as if I was an idiot."

"Danny Nardiello is a quality player and he came to us with a really good CV.  It works for everybody, for Blackpool, for Danny and definitely for us.  We wanted somebody who I knew and had seen, plus it was also a name that we were trying to bring in.  Hopefully he will play like that for the rest of the time that he is with us, because he is a quality player."

"Two of the players spoke last week and both said that there is no revenge for Saturday's game.  There's no need for it, we went out on penalties and I don't think it really comes into it.  Neither team went up eventually and we are both in the same situation again, there's only one point between us."

"I think they are one of the better teams in the league, they will be up there challenging again at the end of the season.  Last season has all gone; there are different players for Shrewsbury and for us.  You put it behind you and move on.  For us, it's the next game and the next game for them, but we do know that it will be a tough game."

"Like us they have a few injury problems, that's not overly my concern but I do know that the team they put out will be a very competitive team.  Paul Simpson always puts out a strong team and I am expecting a tough game, because it always is there."
