This team is getting better

Posted on: Wed 25 Nov 2009

"I thought we played pretty well in the first half, we moved it around pretty well but it's just that final bit of quality at the end of it, fortunately - we got that in the second half.  I thought we were excellent against the form team in the league, they are a good side.  I just thought that we were the better team and a fair result."

"We created a few chances in the second half with our movement and the pace of the pass.  The goal kind of summed up everything, there was lots of passing and moving it around, it was a great ball in from Tom Newey and a fantastic header."

"It's three in three now from Andy Morrell, lets hope that continues and to be fair to him, he's waited a long time with the injuries he's had.  He looks bright and sharp and you know what you are going to get from him.  He works really hard for the team and I am delighted for him because he has got his rewards for the goals."

"It wouldn't be us if we didn't have a little wobble at the end, we are good at keeping everyone on the edge of their seats but I am disappointed that we conceded at the end, but even then I thought we were pretty comfortable. It doesn't matter if its 2-1 or whatever, we do the same thing - keep the ball and move it around, take it forward and I thought we killed the game pretty well."

"Obviously everyone is looking at the facts that we are now in the play off positions for the first time this season.  I'm not, to me its five points out of nine against really good sides.  If somebody had said you would take five points from the three teams that we have just played, I would have taken it.I'd have taken three points, but the win on Tuesday night is fantastic."

"Again, it was an unbelievable effort from the players; I think they are getting better and against tough opposition - I thought we played really well.  I'll take eleven games undefeated and probably everyone else will as well.  We just have to stretch this unbeaten run as far as possible, continue to try and progress, develop players and continue to play the way we are playing."

"It look's like Ryan Cresswell has done his ankle ligaments and with the way the turf is, he's caught his studs in it as he had turned.  As soon as he went down, you know that its pretty bad.  The good thing is, if it is a good thing in a situation like this, we have a ready made replacement in Ben Futcher."

"He is proven at this level; we don't have to scramble to get loan players in his position.  It's disappointing from Cresswell because since he has been in the team, he's done really well.I'm a big fan of his, I like what he has got and he's athletic for his size.I think he has a lot of the tools that you need to have a career at centre half. Its just unfortunate, but that's how football is, that when everything is going well, something all ways comes along so you just get over it and move on."

"You look at the month and it started poorly with going out of two cups, but we have bounced back really well. We've shown the resilience and the character. All the things you need to last the season, now we just have to keep it going.I think this team is getting better, at times we play some really good football and now we are putting it in the back of the net, I'm delighted with it all."

"It's fantastic that we had so many supporters here for the Chesterfield game.  If I was sat at home and looking at the weather, I think I'd go for Milan & Barcelona, but it was a fantastic effort for everyone that came.  The pleasing thing is that they come ande they think that we put on a decenty show considering the conditions."
