Sort it out - quickly

Posted on: Sun 13 Dec 2009

"3-1 to Dagenham does not flatter Dagenham.  They were better than us in both boxes  .It's simple, we had chances but didn't score and they scored their three chances.  I don't think it flatters them, they deserved it - it's the simple honest truth. They were better than us in both boxes."

"We didn't take out chances when we had them and we didn't keep them out at the other end.  Unfortunately we can be what we are in-between where it's pretty and nice to watch, but it means absolutely nothing.  Three goals against again is poor, that's three at Morecambe, none last weekend with Barnet and three again on Saturday at Dagenham.  We have to sort it out quickly."

"We knew what to expect from Dagenham, we've worked on it and had all the information.  The first goal was ridiculous because we knew what to expect and yet it goes in.  We get ourselves back in the game, we could have had a couple more but didn't.  We flattered in the second half and the two goals against were pretty poor.  The second goal was a joke goal, the cross came in and we don't defend at the near post and Benson has a tap in."

"You just can't do that, if you want to be at the top of the table.  You can't give away three goals every time you come away.  They have all the information they need beforehand. There are no surprises when we turn up, we just didn't cope with it."

"Both teams looked like they could score.  We hit the bar, they hit the post.  Then we have another attack, they have another attack - that's how it was, but we didn't defend three times.  It cost us and I am unbelievably disappointed because I thought this was a good opportunity for us to kick on, and we haven't.  Now we have to regroup quickly because there are a lot of games coming."

"In recent weeks, it's been one step forward and two steps backwards.  We've been saying that we've done well because we haven't got a squad.  Now we have got a squad, we've got players back.  We had Ryan Lowe and Paul Scott on the bench with players in between them.  It might have been a little comfortable for them for a while with nobody on the bench to push, but now we have."

"Danny Nardiello is with us until after the Macclesfield game, it carries on until next week.  We've spoken to the coaching staff and they are ok with it but we have to speak to Blackpool the club.  Danny himself is ok with staying so hopefully we will move ahead with that next week.  He was unhappy with being substituted but we tried to protect to protect him.  A player is never happy when we take them off."
