Absolutely delighted

Posted on: Sun 17 Jan 2010

"Obviously we are delighted with the result.  Nobody fancied us to come to Bournemouth and get a result.  They have proven it so far and in the first half of the season they have shown that they are a really good side, but we've come here and taken all three points and I thought we've played pretty well.  We were resilient and solid; when we broke it up I thought we looked a threat. The two goals we scored were excellent."

"Both goals were quality finishes.  The first goal we broke it up then moved it really quickly, there were three passes from after we broke it up to finishing up in the back of the net.  I was absolutely delighted with it and again after a long break, the players couldn't really do anything because of the bad weather, but we've put little sessions on and they have done everything that we have asked."

"Now we have 22 games to go and it's a good way to start the second half of the season.  Wayne Brown made two fantastic saves.  The first one from Goulding's header, from where I stood it just looked like it was going in to the bottom corner, but he just go his hand to it.  Then Liam Feeney has come in and bent one to the far post and Brownie got across and saved it.  It was a good all round performance from everybody and I thought everyone out a shift in and worked for the three points.  We did what we had to do to come and get the three points."

"I thought we looked comfortable until they scored and made it difficult for ourselves, but the good thing is that it hasn't cost us.  I'd prefer 2-0 and a clean sheet because I thought we deserved 2-0 and a clean sheet with the way we worked, but it wasn't to be.  The good thing is that it didn't cost us and we leave Bournemouth with three points."

"We brought Paul Scott back into right back, and Dave Buchanan into left back.  I thought that Liam Feeney is a really dangerous player and that David Buchanan would be ideally suited against him.  That was it really, you can call it tactical or what you like but that was the reason why, and I thought David did really well against him, as did Scotty on the right hand side.  It's hard to pick out players because they all did really well, but Scotty has been out for a long time and I thought he looked solid today."

"He was banging it into row Z a few times, but that's just being a defender first and seeing what happens after that.  We've played four away games on the bounce now and still only lost two in 17.  We are going ok.  Everyone saw the bench today and we do need a few bodies in.  It's kind of difficult and we are just waiting for those to come back and come into the squad."

"Andy Morrell felt his groin on Friday, which is why we took him off as a precaution.  David Worrall was ill on Friday night at the hotel and he ran out of steam but hopefully everyone will be ok for Tuesday.  Hopefully by the end of the month they will all be back, that's good because the games are going to come thick and fast now."

"We all want to play the games now; it's frustrating when you can't.  The players get bored easily and I get bored easily.  We are all used to competition and we want that competition.  I'm delighted to get the Bournemouth game out of the way because on paper, they are a really good team."

"We are a better team now than when we played Bournemouth in the first game of the season.  I'm a big fan of Bournemouth and I like the way that they play.  They have some really good players and I thought today's performance was pretty much like the season before.  Bournemouth will stay up there and now it's our job to catch them."
