"There is a little disappointment around after losing at Chesterfield on Saturday, its always disappointing to lose a game, especially when you look at the run that we are on but the performance was pretty good, it was just the end bit - we didn't put it in the back of the net when we had the opportunity. Obviously we were disappointed but the good thing to take from the game was that it was a good performance."
"Those that did miss the chances were initially down about it, but it happens. Football is full of disappointments; there are more disappointments than highs so you have to quickly get over it. When Sam Hewson picked that ball up, he has such good technique that I thought he would put it in the back of the net, but it wasn't to be. It's the same with Mike Jones, it wasn't to be. You just have to dust yourself off and go again, don't dwell on it and go again."
"The weather is again causing problems with training. The training ground was frozen on Wednesday so we couldn't really do much, but we trained on Monday. I gave them Tuesday off and spent Wednesday in the gym, but thankfully we got a good session on down on the training ground on Thursday."
"Despite the defeat on Saturday, we are still in the automatic spots. We gave ourselves a little bit of a breather, but we can't afford to slip up too many times. The aim is to keep up there and you realise in football that things can change at any moment so you try and be as consistent as possible and try and stay in there for as long as possible."
"I don't really have to keep the lads focussed on what is happening here. Every now and then you have to remind individuals and certain people of what is needed, but if they are not focussed now when we are third in the league, and they don't realise just how important it is, then there is something wrong. I only remind them if I think they are not at it."
"We played Fleetwood on Monday in a reserve friendly, Andy Bishop got through the 90 minutes though we had only planned on him getting 75, but he said that he wanted to play on. Tom Elliott got 70 minutes so it was good for us, there was a bit of stiffness from both of them the morning after, but you expect that."
"We are in a really good position at the moment. I watched Notts County on Tuesday night and you expect them to beat Grimsby Town, but they didn't - plus they had Lee Hughes sent off. Football changes all the time, its just trying to keep yourself consistent. Sometimes you have to grind out results and that's what we are going to have to do in the closing part of the season. We have to be resilient and hope that the front players have enough quality to get us a goal."
"Stephen Dawson had acupuncture on Tuesday, rested on Wednesday but did train on Thursday. David Buchanan has had the scan on his knee. We know the results but we are waiting on the specialist to read the report and to tell us to either go ahead or not to go ahead. There is the danger of making the injury worse and we do have a lot of games left. We have 16 games left and we want him involved."
"I don't know if I am a fan of Friday night football yet. When I was at Halifax we used to play every Friday night. As a manager it's good because we can get out on Saturday and watch another game. I'm going to Port Vale on Saturday to watch Barnet, so it gives us the chance to look at next week's opposition."
"The proof will be if we get people in, I know we have an incentive for season ticket holders from other clubs to come here. We don't know if it will be a success until after the game. A lot has been said about what I said after the Macclesfield game and we have had plenty of great letters. This is about us trying something different and hopefully it works out."
"Shrewsbury have signed two players this week and obviously we don't know too much about the Dutch lad, but we know an awful lot about Jamie Cureton. He's a top goal scorer and a top player. Shrewsbury have taken him and he will be a good signing for them, though hopefully not tonight. They are in the top seven and are on a decent run and we know it will be a tough game. There has been no mention of revenge or retribution over the play offs, its pointless and we have played them since then anyway. They are usually close games against Shrewsbury and I am expecting nothing else this time."
