It was whoever took the first chance

Posted on: Sun 07 Mar 2010

"I thought it was a fair result, both teams had chances but no-one could put it in the back of the net.We haven't played well but we haven't lost.It also seems that some people forget that. It's incredible and some of the abuse that Michael Jones got in that game is disgusting.I heard somebody shout 'get Jones off, he is absolute rubbish'.Is no one allowed to have a bad game?"

"What Michael Jones, as well as all the young players, have done over the last two years has been unbelievable considering where it was.Unfortunately we've set some pretty high standards, and if they don't reach those high standards every week, then people with short memories are going to let you know."

"The pitch doesn't do them any favours at the moment. It's not everybody, the majority are really good but there are just some who make you think what is the point. The game itself was a difficult game, Dagenham are a difficult team to play against and I thought the draw was a fair result."

"It didn't look like a draw after the first the minutes, both teams were attacking and it was really down to whoever took the first chance. If they take the first chance, then you go on and take the second, but we couldn't and thankfully neither could Dagenham. We don't want a draw, but you have to settle for it.It's a point and on another day, you could lose.Michael Jones opened them up a few times but we just didn't have the finishing bit.At the moment its just difficult for us to put it in the back of the net."

"It's not going to change, I have the faith in the players and I know who they are, what they have been and what they can do, so you just have to put faith in them.We are not a club that can go out and get somebody so you leave it as it is and put the faith in the players."

"We are fourth in the league; it's not a time to panic. If we were fourth from the bottom looking at the conference, then perhaps that's a time to panic. We are unbeaten in whatever; we've lost three in 27 games. Its a little hysteria from some people and it isn't going to change. It just makes everybody's job a lot harder when you want people to help. They would rather boo than help."

"The way to help is not to barrack and boo, boo us if we are fourth from bottom, not fourth from top."

"The disallowed goal - its got to be close.Danny Racchi was warming up there and he says he was never off side.It didn't go for us, so you just have to get on with it, these things happen and it will turn around. We are just not having any luck in front of goal, but at the same time we are defending pretty well, and we are defending well without being negative, we are not putting give across the back to get a clean sheet, we are doing exactly the same and keeping clean sheets.Whilst we can't score, its important that we do defend well."

"Tuesday night against Darlington will be tough.I watched on Tuesday and they were really good in the first half and could have been leading by a few more goals but it just became difficult for them when Port Vale scored. It doesn't matter who you play, you have to be on your game and if you are then the games takes care of itself."
