'We've no choice but to take the point. I don't think it was a particularly good game of football. It was a bit pedestrian from both sides really. We scored with a great finish and then give away a goal, I don't even think it was a free kick, even so, the ball went through our wall and that's cost us two points. If you just stand there and the ball hits you, they don't score and we come away with three points. We have young players and this is still a learning time for them and this was a big lesson for them at Barnet.
But for their goal and one effort from Glen Southam, they had nothing to show, but I thought we were comfortable without really hurting them. We changed the team a little bit and went with the three young kids to give us some pace and mobility, at times it worked and at times it didn't work. The whole game was flat from start to finish, and probably not until they scored their goal was there an atmosphere.
We will take the point, but when you are 1-0 up, you expect to win 1-0. Barnet are coming off the back of a 7-0 defeat, the crowd are waiting to see what's going to happen, I think the bottom line was that there weren't many people there and there's hardly any atmosphere. It just seemed like a nice day out with two teams doing exactly the same. Even though we haven't lost, I still think we should have won.
It was a great finish from Ryan Lowe, he's a top player. Put him in front of the goalkeeper and usually that's where the ball ends up. We should have finished them off at that point, though 1-0 should have been enough. It's not like they have created anything. I don't even think it was a great strike from the free kick.If it goes into the top corner you hold your hands up, but it doesn't, it goes through our wall. It's that detail that loses us two points. It was a scruffy game and wasn't the greatest performance from either team, but I thought we did enough once we got in front to win the game. We didn't close the game out which was the disappointing thing; it should be three points instead of one.
Somebody turned their back on the free kick, when they should be closing there eyes and holding on. You can say it's about taking points at this stage of the season, we've lost one our of four league games. We keep saying this, but it's still a work in progress. I just think that with the greatest respect to Barnet, my team is better than Barnet's team and we should have won the game, but we just haven't done enough to win the game.
It's not through Barnet's great play; it's through our lack of bravery. You have to do whatever it takes to win three points, and we haven't done that. You take the free kick in the face and we come away with three points.
I don't think they caused us too many problems. I thought we were pretty comfortable and looked like we could do something on the counter attack, we did and we expected to win the game 1-0. We always want to be better for ourselves and for the supporters that have travelled. I rather the fans went home with three points rather than one. 300 fans travelling to Barnet is brilliant, I have to say a big thank you to them and it's much appreciated.
With the transfer window closing soon, we've had no movement - in or out. However, we've had one offer come in for a player that we have turned down. It's not for Andy Bishop, there is some sort of rumour in him from a South African club, but there is nothing in that as far as we know. We spoke to Andy's agent and it looked like there was interest, but nothing has materialised.
All this doesn't really help that all of a sudden it's out there and everybody knows, that doesn't help anybody's situation.
If the money coming in is right and it's from a club at a higher level, then you cant really stop that from happening. The offer that came in, in my opinion, wasn't enough for the player so we turned it down. The directors agreed and they went back saying give us more money, the other club can't do that so it's dead.
