Bury had the first chance of the game, and the first goal on 5 minutes when they won a corner on the right hand side. Kennedy blasted the corner into the area towards Andy Bishop. He fired the ball straight into the roof of the net to give Bury the early one goal lead.

Accrington Stanley equalised on 11 minutes when Andrew Todd managed to brake through the midfield towards the penalty area. He layed the ball in to Gary Roberts who ran into the area and slotted the ball into the goal to equalise for Accrington.

Accrington won their first corner of the game on 14 minutes on the left hand side. The corner came in towards Roberts, but Challinor did well to push the ball away to Kennedy as he cleared the danger.

Accrington won another corner on 15 minutes from the left hand side again. The ball swerved in towards Roberts as he nodded the ball towards goal, straight into the arms of a leaping Kasper Schmeichel.

Bury came very close to taking the lead on 17 minutes when Kennedy fired a free kick on the right hand side on the edge of the area. He fired the kick straight at goal to force Dunbavin to push the ball out of play for a corner.

Bury had their best chance yet on 18 minutes when Andy Bishop forced his way into the area to force a one on one with Dunbavin. Dunbavin pulled the ball out of the air, causing a collision with Bishop. The referee however said their was no penalty and the ball went out for a goal kick.

Accrington almost took a bizarre lead on 23 minutes when Ian Dunbavin fired a free kick straight into the Bury area. Craney almost got a touch to the ball, but the ball had too much pace and went straight into the arms of Schmeichel.

Bury won a free kick on the edge of the area on the left hand side on 28 minutes. Tom Kennedy fired the ball straight at goal, but the wall blocked the shot as Stanley cleared the ball away from danger.

The Shakers had another good chance on 30 minutes when John Fitzgerald crossed the ball into the area from the right hand side. The cross found the head of Bishop, who headed the ball towards the bottom right hand side of the goal, but Cavanagh was on the line to clear the ball out of play for a throw.

Bury won another free kick on 33 minutes on the edge of the area n the right hand side. Baker took the free kick and fired the ball straight at goal, but Dunbavin was in a good position to grab the ball by his right hand post.

Bury regained the lead on 35 minutes when Tom Kennedy made a great cross from the left hand side. The cross found the head of Glynn Hurst in the six yard box who headed the ball into the right hand side of the goal to give Bury back their lead.

Accrington got another equaliser less than a minute later when Romauld Boco fought his way into the area on the right hand side and fired a shot at goal. Schmeichel managed the get a hand to it but the ball had to much power as the ball deflected into the goal to equalise for Accrington in a very thrilling game.

Bury won yet another corner on 42 minutes when Bishop's shot was deflected by the defender. Pugh crossed the ball in towards Hurst, whose header forced a good save from Dunbavin.

Halftime: Bury 2-2 Accrington

Bury won the first corner of the second half on 47 minutes. Marc Pugh crossed the ball into the edge of the area. Mattis dived for the header but couldn't get their in time as the ball went away from danger.

Bury won a free kick on the left hand side of the area on 50 minutes. Kennedy crossed the ball into the area but Dunbavin read the play well and caught the ball.

The Shakers had yet another chance on 54 minutes when Paul Scott crossed the ball into the area towards Bishop. His header was heading for the left hand side of the goal, but Dunbavin made a quick reaction safe and the ball deflected high into the air and out of the area.

Bury won another free kick on the edge of the area on the left hand side on 57 minutes. Kennedy crossed the ball into the area, but Dunbavin managed to catch the ball and clear it away.

Stanley won a free kick on the right hand side on the edge of the area on 61 minutes. Craney swerved the shot at goal but the ball went flying out for a corner. There was a slight pause as Dunbavin changed his boots and gloves, but eventually the corner was taken. However, Robert Williams fouled Fitzgerald and Bury had a free kick.

Bury won yet another free kick on 65 minutes on the left wing. Pugh took the free kick, and wiped the ball into the area but Proctor did well to intervene and clear the ball out of the area.

Accrington had their first chance in a while on 70 minutes when Robert Williams fired a blistering shot straight at goal on the right hand side. The shot swerved towards goal and forced an absolutely fantastic save from Schmeichel by his left hand post.

Bury had a fantastic chance on 73 minutes when Hurst crossed the ball into the area from the left hand side. Bishop fired a header towards the bottom left, but Dunbavin made a good save. The ball deflected towards Buchanan, with plenty of space. He fired the shot at goal but Dunbavin managed to scramble to the ball to stop it from going in.

Bury won a corner on 76 minutes on the right hand side. Barry-Murphy swung the ball into the area, forcing Dunbavin to punch the ball out for another corner. The second corner went towards Hurst, but Cavanagh did well to head the ball away.

The Shakers had a throw near the area on the right hand side on 88 minutes. The throw was taken short to Challinor. He fired a cross into the area, and Dunbavin went to punch the ball, but misjudged the ball, so he was only able to get a slight touch on the ball, but not enough to stop the ball from going out of play for a corner.

Accrington won a corner with 5 minutes of injury time remaining on the left hand side. The corner was wasted though as the Bury defence cleared the ball with ease, to end the game all square.
