The Shakers claimed their first win at home in 2007 when goals from Andy Mangan and Nicky Adams defeated the visitors Accrington Stanley.

The Shakers made only one change to the side that drew away against Dagenham last week. The change in formation back to 4-4-2 meant that Jack Dorney was brought back into the side for his second first team appearance, at the expense of Richie Baker. Accrington named one change, as new loan signing Ian Craney returns for a second spell at Stanley after being sold to Swansea in the summer.

The opening of the first half was heavily in Accrington's favour as they attacked Bury frequently on the break. After nine minutes, new loan player Ian Craney lobbed a long range attempt high over Jim Provett, but the shot had too much hang time as it sailed over the crossbar. The miss didn't put Craney off though, he attempted another long range effort just a few moments later which smashed against the crossbar, and almost deflected in of the diving Jim Provett.

A couple of keeping mistakes by Accrington keeper Kenny Arthur almost gave the Shakers the lead they so desperately needed. A free kick into the penalty area on the half hour mark was headed at goal by Andy Bishop. Arthur attempted to claim the ball but fumbled it, leaving Glynn Hurst with an opportunity to score from close range but the shot was cleared off the line. The Stanley keepers second mistake came just a few moments later when a cross into the area was fumbled yet again, giving Hurst another chance to score his first goal of the year, but again it was cleared off the line.

The second half started off like a nightmare for the Shakers when an attempted clearance deflected into the goal off Stanley's striker Paul Mullin giving Accrington the lead after just a matter of seconds. A couple off quick fire changes gave The Shakers some more pace up front, and it had an effect when Andy Mangan managed to intercept the ball on the edge of the penalty area, and work his way past the keeper, leaving an empty net as he slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal to claim his first goal in a Bury shirt.

The goal seemed to lift the Shakers, as they continued to pressure Accrington. With just seven minutes to go, they got what they were looking for when Andy Mangan fired a superb cross into the area were Nicky Adams was waiting to knock the ball home and give the shakers the late lead.

Despite having four minutes added on, the Shakers held on and got their first win at home in 2007.
