Reported by Eric Wood at Gigg Lane
The Shakers had several changes to the side that drew with Macclesfield last week. Paul Morgan picked up an injury in training on Friday and Colin Woodthorpe was banned after five yellow cards so David Buchanan and Andy Parrish replaced them. Paul Scott and Lee Bullock both returned to the starting line-up. Barnet also had Kenny Gillet returning from injury which earned him a place on the bench.
Barnet thought they had taken the lead on 16 minutes when a corner into the six yard box was met with a brave diving header from Liam Hatch, which flew past Jim Provett and into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. However, the referee had already blown his whistle after he deemed a Barnet player was pushing during the cross. The Shakers had a chance of their own near the half hour mark when Glynn Hurst managed to break away through the Barnet defence into a one-on-one battle with keeper Lee Harrison. Hurst fired a close range effort, which smashed into the left hand side netting.
The Shakers took the lead on 30 minutes when Nicky Adams fired a superb deep ball into the penalty area for Glynn Hurst, who calmly controlled the ball and thumped it past Lee Harrison and into the back of the net to cap off a well constructed move by Bury.
Goal Bury 1-0 Barnet (Glynn Hurst 31)
Barnet tried to respond to the goal on 34 minutes when Adam Birchall crossed the ball to the edge of the six yard for Liam Hatch, who managed to out jump Challinor and fire a header at goal, which was easily saved by Jim Provett by his left hand post. Bury were on the attack again on 35 minutes when Nicky Adams managed to find room on the edge of the area to fire a powerful low range shot at goal, which forced quick reaction from keeper Lee Harrison as he dived to his left hand post.
Halftime: Bury 1-0 Barnet
The Shakers started the second half on the attack when Paul Scott passed the ball to the edge of the area for Andy Mangan, who fired a shot first time on the volley which went just wide of Lee Harrison's left hand post.
The Shakers extended their lead on 54 minutes when Glynn Hurst knocked a superb ball forward for Nicky Adams, who had no difficulty sending the ball past Lee Harrison and into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.
Goal Bury 2-0 Barnet (Nicky Adams 54)
Bury almost extended their lead even further on 55 minutes when Glynn Hurst knocked a low ball into the six yard box from the right wing. Nicky Adams was stood on the goal line looking for the tap in, but the ball was just on the wrong side of him and the ball was forced out of play.
Just two minutes later Bury were again on the attack when Nicky Adams again found room on the edge of the area and fired another good low drive at goal. However, Lee Harrison was equal to this attempt, as he made the good reaction save diving across the face of goal.
The Shakers sealed the win with around four minutes to go when Nicky Adams once again found room to run unchallenged into the area and slot the ball past the rushing keeper and into the right hand corner of the goal complete the rout for the shakers.
