The Shakers named only one change to the side that drew with Hereford just two days ago. Adam Rooney moves into the starting line up as Glynn Hurst takes a place on the bench. Mansfield named two changes to their side after a defeat at the hands of Grimsby on Saturday. Neil Wainwright and Keith Briggs both move into the starting line up as John D'Laryea and Will Atkinson are dropped to the bench.
Bury nearly took the lead in the most bizarre of circumstances after just 3 minutes when Brian Barry-Murphy fired an in swinging corner from the left hand side towards Ben Futcher on the goal line. The ball though curled away from its target and flew straight at goal, which forced Matthew Hamshaw to clear the ball of the goal line. On 9 minutes after controlling the run of play took the lead when The Shakers earned a free kick about halfway through the Mansfield half after a challenge on Elliott Bennett. The winger stepped up and fired the kick to the edge of the six yard box. Paul Scott managed to out jump his marker and fire a powerful header at goal. Mansfield keeper Jason White did well to get a hand to it, but the ball had too much power behind it as it flew into the top left hand corner of the goal to give Bury the lead and Paul Scott's seventh goal of the season.

The Shakers won a corner on 22 minutes after Matthew Hamshaw's dangerous clearance that nearly went into his own net. Brian Barry-Murphy fired the corner into the penalty area were Efe Sodje fired a diving header towards goal, which was met by a superb diving save from keeper Jason White. On 31 minutes Bury were back on the attack when Brian Barry-Murphy fired a good ball into the penalty area for Elliott Bennett who went for glory with an overhead kick, but he didn't get enough power on the ball as it trickled wide of the right hand post.
On 36 minutes The Shakers extended their lead in superb fashion when Steve Haslam set off the counter attack when he played a good ball forward for Elliott Bennett, who did superbly well to flick the ball on into the penalty area for Adam Rooney. The on loan striker managed to control the ball and then slotted it into the bottom left hand corner of the goal leaving keeper Jason White with no chance.

Bury nearly made it a three goal lead on the verge of halftime when Andy Bishop managed to claim the ball from the feet of the onrushing Jason White. Bishop fired a shot straight at the empty net, but the Mansfield defence managed to clear the ball away. Nicky Adams fired another shot on the rebound, but the Mansfield defence cleared again.
Halftime: Bury 2-0 Mansfield
The away side nearly pulled a goal back with two minutes gone in the second half when Stephen Dawson fired a good shot at goal from the edge of the penalty area, which smashed against the right hand post. The away side were beginning to put pressure on Bury, and they nearly took the lead when Matthew Hamshaw fired the ball across the face of goal to Michael Boulding who managed to head the ball back to the edge of the six yard box for Simon Brown who tried to fire the ball straight at goal, but completely missed the ball as it rolled harmlessly out of the penalty area.
On 66 minutes Mansfield had another good chance when Kevin Horlock went for goal from way outside the penalty area, but the ball went just inches over the crossbar. On 70 minutes Bury won a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Brian Barry-Murphy fired the free kick straight at goal, but the ball curled just inches over the crossbar.
