It was Bury who had the first chance of the game after around 5 minutes when Richie Baker managed to find some breathing space on the edge of the area. Baker fired a low driving shot at goal, but the ball went just wide of Sam Russell's right hand post. Just a minute later Rochdale had a good chance to take the early lead when Glenn Murray made a long run into the area and fired a twisting shot at goal, which had to be well saved by Jim Provett diving to his right hand post. Adam Le Fondre attempted a follow up shot to try and catch Provett off guard, but the referee had already ruled for offside.
Glynn Hurst almost got his name on the score sheet for the first time this season on 16 minutes when he won the ball from Dale defender Guy Branston on the edge of the area. However, young keeper Sam Russell dealt with the danger well as he rushed off his line and prevented Hurst from capatalising on the chance. The Shakers were on the attack again on 20 minutes when some fast paced football gave Nicky Adams some room on the left wing. Adams fired a powerful cross into the area looking for James Dean, but the Dale keeper was quick off his line to claim the ball.
Rochdale almost took the lead on 23 minutes when Rory Prendergast fired a free kick into the area from the right hand side. Jim Provett came off his line to punch the ball away, but Adam Rundle managed to intercept the ball and fire it back at goal on the volley, which smashed against the crossbar. The Shakers were back on the attack on the half hour mark when James Dean fired a good driving shot at goal from the edge of the area which had Russell fixed to his line, but the ball went inches wide of the right hand post.
On te verge of halftime Rochdale took the lead when a deep cross into the six yard box was headed into the back of the net from close range by Rory Prendergast leaving Jim Provett no chance in the Bury goal.

Twelve minutes into the seond half and Bury scored a dramatic equaliser when Nicky Adams fired antoher precision cross into the six yard box for Glynn Hurst, who finished the chance off perfectly as he kncoked the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

The Shakers had a chance to take lead on 63 minutes when the referee awarded Bury a free kick on the edge of the area after Nicky Adams was brought down by John Doolan. Brian Barry-Murphy fired the kick towards Sam Russell's left hand post for Andy Parrish, but the Rochdale defence managed to get the ball clear. On 65 minutes the Shakers had another chance when Nicky Adams fired a powerful long range effort from the edge of the area went just wide of the left hand post. Bury came very close to getting the go ahead goal on 68 minutes when Glynn Hurst managed to break into a one-on-one with keeper Sam Russell. Hurst fired a quick shot at goal to try and catch the keeper off guard, but the ball smashed into the side netting.
With around 8 minutes of the game left, Bury took the lead when Nicky Adams crossed the ball into the area for Domaine Rouse who smashed the ball home from close range to get his first ever goal in a Bury shirt.

Just two minutes later Bury extended their lead even further when Nicky Adams yet again was the thorn in Rochdale's side when another cross flew straight to the head of Glynn Hurst who had no difficulty firing the header into the goal to seal the Shakers second victory over Rochdale in five days.
