Bury go top of the league as Andy Bishop scores his 50th Bury goal. Second half goals from Bishop and Andy Morrell win the game for Bury after going a goal down to Adomah just after half time.
The afternoon started with an impeccable minute silence following the untimely death of Barnet Youth Team skipper Oliver Kingonzila who became another victim to knife crime earlier in the week.
Shakers started the game, playing in their new away kit, in bright sunshine and Andy Morrell was quickly into action forcing the home keeper into a save.A swinging ball into the box from David Buchanan saw the former Blackpool striker connect with a powerful header, but Harrison dived smartly to tip the ball around the post. The home defence quickly swept away the Shakers corner though.
Another chance soon fell to the Shakers, and again from another corner. This time though the delivery from Mike Jones was cleared to the edge of the box where Brian Barry-Murphy did well to keep the ball down as his placed shot was well held by the Barnet keeper.Moments later, Barnet broke down the left where Cliff Akurang showed some determination to take the ball, but a hefty challenge from Sodje got the ball away, much to the annoyance of the home crowd as the referee waved for play to continue.
Elliott Bennett produced some good skill on nine minutes to deliver the ball to Andy Bishop, but a quick shot on goal from the Shakers leading scorer flew harmlessly wide of the upright. From the goal kick Barnet broke quickly but Akurang was again the victim of another stern challenge that again referee Hooper deemed to be totally fair.A Barnet free kick on the edge of the Bury box on 12 minutes saw the Shakers defence easily deal with the delivery.Adomah's cross was smashed out of play with some alacrity by Brian Barry-Murphy.
A clash of heads between Akurang and Futcher saw the Bury defender flat out whilst Akurang received a yellow card. The injury saw Ryan Cresswell leap off the bench but Futcher was quickly back to his feet and keen to get back on with his game. The Barnet defence looked all at sea moments later when a back pass went adrift of two defenders allowing Andy Bishop to shoot on goal, but his effort was wide of the mark.
Nicky Nicolau had Bury hearts fluttering on 20 minutes when he stole into the box, but instead of shooting first time, he chose to take another touch - this allowed Futcher to get the ball clear to Elliott Bennett on the half way line where his cross to Bishop was forced out of play for another Bury corner.Another Bury corner on 24 minutes saw Jones's delivery cleared to Birchall and his quick break saw the Bury defence charging back into position. With Birchall showing good pace, David Buchanan managed to hold the Barnet midfielder up before Elliott Bennett who managed to get the ball away from danger.
Barnet began to come into the game on 27 minutes.Adomah broke quickly down the right and got the ball into the box where Birchall brought a superb save out of Wayne Brown.Bury continued to look for the opening goal with Barry-Murphy forcing Harrison into a good save on 31 minutes from around 20 yards.Barry-Murphy had his name taken within 30 seconds for a foul on Neil Bishop.
A fifth Bury corner came the Shakers way on 38 minutes but a poor delivery from Barry-Murphy saw the ball quickly cleared, but as fast as it was cleared, Bury won a sixth corner seconds later. With the Shakers corners defeating Lincoln last week, corners were beginning to raise hope amongst the travelling fans. This corner though saw Harrison punch the ball clear of any danger and the home side cleared the ball.Efe Sodje collected a third yellow card of the season on 40 minutes following a foul on Akurang as the big striker attempted to take the ball forward.
With Bury on top of the game, Barnet manager Paul Fairlclough led his side into the dressing room the happier of the two managers after a goalless first period.

A Barnet free kick on 53 minutes brought danger to the Bury defence following a challenge by Ryan Cresswell. The delivery though wasn't the best and the Shakers got the ball clear, but moments later another free kick brought more danger though again, poor delivery helped the Shakers get the ball clear.
The goal, coupled with the loss of Efe Sodje seemed to have an adverse affect on the Shakers as Barnet suddenly began to create chances and got the ball into the box.Gillett and Birchall in particular began to cause problems to the Bury back line.
A turn and cross from Andy Bishop on 56 minutes saw Adomah head the ball out for a corner.Barry-Murphy's delivery saw Harrison punch the ball out for a throw that the home side dealt with ease.
Barnet should have doubled their lead on the hour when Birchall's cross found the head of Akurang, but his bullet header thankfully went straight to Wayne Brown. His quick release saw the ball pumped up the field but the home defence got the ball clear.
Another chance for Barnet came on 74 minutes when a long ball found Birchall a chance inside the six yard box, but thankfully, the ball was slightly too high and Brown cleared all the way upto Bishop, whose first touch put the Shakers back in the game by slotting under the advancing Harrison.Andy Bishop has now scored 50 goals for the Shakers.
