Before we begin our match report, we have to mention Private Johnson Beharry VC who was paraded to the crowd before today's game. What a fantastic reception this brave young man received from all three sides of the Recreation Ground. His presence at the game was worth the four hour drive and admission fee alone.

Bury left Aldershot, who hadn't lost at home all season, with another three points safely tucked away on the back of the team coach after notching their fifth win from seven away games. Brian Barry-Murphy and Efe Sodje both grabbed their first goals of the season with Stephen Dawson scoring his second of the season as the Shakers came from behind twice to seal the points in an end to end 3-2 win.
The home side began the game began the game brightly though the first move forward fell to Ryan Lowe in the third minute. He charged forward with the ball but was forced wide of the area by Hinshelwood before the Shots centre half and skipper tripped Lowe in the corner of the field. The resulting free kick though brought a bad delivery form Barry-Murphy that the Shots easily cleared up the field as the ball rolled across the box. Another BBM free kick two minutes later brought a better effort, though this time the curling shot to the back post was well held by the Shots keeper.
Aldershot then had their first effort on goal when Antonio German charged off down the wing. He effortlessly took the ball around David Worrall before firing a stern effort on target that brought a good save from Wayne Brown.
A minute later and the home side were in the lead. Scott Donnelly started off the move as he took two touches to get the ball into the box, a fierce drive that looked to be heading across the goal took a good deflection off Ryan Cresswell and seemed to be heading to safety, until centre half David Winfield crashed the ball home from the centre of the area. The now annual goal spree between the two sides had started.
Goal: Aldershot 1 Bury 0 (Winfield 8)
On 15 minutes, the home side should have doubled their lead when Marvin Morgan and Lewis Soares combined in and around the area. With the Shakers defence seemingly no where to be seen, Morgan simply rolled the ball across the box to Soares who somehow managed to smash the ball wife of the Shakers goal. It seemed easier to put the ball away.
Bury responded almost straight away with David Worrall picking up the ball on the half way line. He took two touches, played a swift one to with Ryan Lowe before firing the ball at goal that was easily dealt with by Jaimez-Ruiz in the Aldershot goal. Moments later and David Worrall again created a half chance for the Shakers, a quick turn and shot in the area seemed to be heading for the Shots goal but an offside flag against Tom Newey on the far side killed the chance dead.
Now into the 18th minutes, each side seemed to be going through nine or ten minute spells of pressure and Bury continued to press. A jinking run from Ryan Lowe saw the former Chester marksman jink inside of defender Straker before firing the ball straight at the home keeper.
From his clearance, the ball flew forward quickly to find Marvin Morgan, a quick turn of pace and turn had the Shots striker bearing down on goal, but his cross to Louis Soares found the latter in an offside position. A minute later and a Simon Donnelly free kick almost deceived Wayne Brown. The floated effort into the box seemed to suddenly dip towards the top corner and Brown was forced to tip the ball over the bar.
The resulting corner was easily dealt with and Bury got the ball forward via some swift crisp passing down the wing. Tom Newey took the ball deep into the Aldershot corner before whipping an excellent cross into the box that both Lowe and Dawson just missed connecting with.
This time the long Aldershot ball again found Morgan chasing the ball into the area. Wayne Brown and Morgan both jumped for the ball and both seemed to miss, though for some reason, referee JJ Linington, making his league debut as referee, somehow awarded a penalty to the home side and showed Wayne Brown his third yellow card of the season.
Morgan confidently placed the ball on the spot and whilst the referee fussed about players with toe nails over the line, waited for the whistle that would hopefully put the home side two goals into the lead. Once the whistle did blow, Morgan's effort lacked everything you need from a spot kick. It had no pace, no direction and not a lot of anything. The shot brought the easiest save that Wayne Brown as made from a penalty in his career - apart from the Dean Windass feeble effort against Darlington!!!!
Two minutes later and Brown produced a more sterling effort by saving a long range drive from Dean Parrett. Within five minutes, the Shakers were level though. A succession of free kicks for the Bury, the first following a foul on Lowe saw Barry-Murphy's delivery flashed over the bar by Tom Elliott. The second, following a foul on Elliott, saw Barry-Murphy clip the ball around the Shots wall, off the post and into the back of the net.
Goal: Aldershot Town 1 Bury 1 (Barry-Murphy 38)
Bury almost took the lead moments before half time. Another Tom Newey cross into the box found David Buchanan. With his back to goal, he turned quickly and volleyed the ball towards goal, but watched as his effort just sneaked wide of the post and out for a goal kick.
Half Time: Aldershot Town 1 Bury 1
The second half started with Aldershot making a change in goal. Jaimez-Ruiz took a knock to the back covering Buchanan's effort just before the break and had obviously failed to emerge for the second half. Clark Masters replaced him in goal. Whilst Masters was settling in between the sticks, further down the field Louie Soares was creating himself a chance and blazed a stunning volley straight at Wayne Brown that was well held.
Moments later and Bury took their turn to charge forward, Ryan Lowe under some pressure from the home defence, was obviously fouled but the referee played a good advantage. His eventual shot though went straight down the keeper's throat and masters held well.
Moments later and the Shakers should have taken the lead, Stephen Dawson with his 'there's never a dead ball' attitude charged into the corner and produced a stunning cross into the box. Tom Elliott on the six yard line perhaps showed some in-experience as he attempted to take a touch before shooting, when a good swing through the ball would more than likely have the ball in the back of the net. His first touch wasn't the best and it skidded out of play for a goal kick.
Two minutes later and a bad back pass from Anthony Straker saw it intercepted by Ryan Lowe. With keeper Masters forcing Lowe wide, his ball back into the box lacked direction and the home side managed to clear to safety.
Aldershot took the lead on 70 minutes when an excellent ball from Marvin Morgan deceived Ryan Cresswell inside the Bury box with a good ball across the area, Louis Soares stole in behind him and fired the ball across Wayne Brown and into the opposite corner to retake the lead for the Shots.
Goal: Aldershot 2 Bury 1 (Soares 70)
The lead lasted just three minutes. Bury broke forward and five crisp passes later the ball was in the back of the net. David Worrall clipped the ball to Ryan Lowe on the touch line and laid off a sublime pass to Stephen Dawson who gleefully smashed the ball across Masters to make it all square again.
Goal: Aldershot Town 2 Bury 2 (Dawson 72)
Following the Shakers second goal, Mike Jones limped off after taking a knock to the ankle and was replaced by Danny Racchi. Within 30 seconds, the former Huddersfield youngster should have been celebrating his first goal for the club. A half cleared ball in the box saw Racchi smash the ball at goal, a full volley that keeper Masters somehow tipped around the post and out for a corner. Bury made Aldershot pay for the save as Barry-Murphy lofted a high curling ball into the middle of the area. Shakers fans knew what was coming as Efetobore Sodje rose like an ageing spring chicken and rammed a bullet header into the top corner to effectively kill the game and take all three points.
Goal: Aldershot Town 2 Bury 3 (Sodje 75)
Every single person in the ground knew what had happened last season and the majority of those present hoped for a repeat, but it was not coming. Aldershot best effort came with virtually the last kick of the game. A long ball into the Bury box saw Morgan direct the ball towards goal, but again Wayne Brown produced a superb reaction save to keep the ball out, but the danger was still not clear and it took a brave header from Ryan Cresswell a foot off the line to knock the ball over the bar for a corner.
