Bournemouth vs Bury - Reported by Hannah Ingram at Dean Court

After grabbing a last minute point away at Grimsby in their first fixture of 2010, Bury made the long trip south to Bournemouth to face the side snapping at the heels of Rochdale from second place in the table. The Cherries made the start of the football year miserable for Bury after beating them 3-0 at Gigg Lane on the opening day of the season. The Shakers last visited Dean Court just over a year ago, losing 2-0 in the process, so today's match looked set to be a tough test.

After both sides tried to get a footing in the match in the early stages, it was Bury that played the better football when it mattered.

GOAL! Bury took the lead in style on nine minutes, after some slick passing at the front. Morrell controlled a forward ball with apparent ease before his quick thinking saw him thread the ball through to Dawson who finished the move by putting the ball in the back of the net from the left of the box.

After conceding, Bournemouth pushed forward continuously but to no avail. Jones managed to dispossess Cummings on 23 minutes before feeding Lowe the ball on the right of the box, but his drive was well wide. Bournemouth produced their best chance so far moments later as Goulding latched onto a dangerous cross from Feeney the right, only to see his header saved by an outstretched Wayne Brown.

Worrall displayed his pace on 32 minutes as he sprinted forward from midfield after collecting a loose ball. He then passed through to Lowe in the box but he struggled to control it, allowing the ball to be cleared.

GOAL! Worrall doubled their lead on 37 minutes after a poor clearance from Bournemouth only went as far as BBM in midfield. Left with time to place his pass, he fed the ball to Worrall on the edge of the box who controlled with flair before making his way into the box and placing the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

One minute of additional time was indicated as Bournemouth were awarded the first corner of the match. After being cleared by Dawson for another corner, the Cherries tried a deeper ball only for Brown to gather the ball. Bury had a goal disallowed right before the whistle as Ryan Lowe was judged to be offside following a foul from Worrall.

Both sides returned to the field with no changes made. Bury made a rapid start to proceedings with Worrall trying a long range effort not long after the restart, only to see it fly wide of the left post.

Double substitution for Bournemouth on 56 minutes - Steve Fletcher on for Jeff Goulding, Josh McQuoid on for Sammy Igoe

Jones was unleashed down the left wing on 61 minutes as Bury made a quick counter attack. After crossing into the box, the ball was cleared by Garry for a Bury corner. Taken again by Jones on the left, it reached the towering head of Futcher whose on-target effort was saved by Jalal. Fletcher should have done better with his chance on 65 minutes after Futcher had failed the clear the ball from the edge of the box. Fletcher had time to shoot but put it well wide of the left post. Feeney had a dangerous long range curling effort saved by Brown moments later.

Substitution for Bury on 68 minutes - Richie Baker on for Andy Morrell

Bournemouth had a goal disallowed on 69 minutes; Fletcher was judged to be offside after a corner from the left.

Substitution for Bury on 69 minutes - Danny Racchi on for David Worrall

Baker worked hard to press forward on 75 minutes after Bury had taken the ball up the right wing. He ran along the top of the box, looking to square to Lowe but was stopped in his tracks. Since their double substitution, Bournemouth had poured as much pressure forward as they could, but Bury tried to stay resilient at the back which frustrated their opponents.

A header on goal from Fletcher on 85 minutes forced a bizarre clearance from Sodje after some miscommunication between himself and Brown. His sliced clearance ended up behind him and bouncing onto the crossbar and out for a Bournemouth corner. Taken from the left, Bury stayed firm at the back and Buchanan cleared any threat.

Four minutes of added time were indicated by the fourth official as Bournemouth were awarded a corner on the left. It was initially cleared along the ground by Futcher, before Jones made sure by clearing the ball up the field. Baker made the best of a long ball forward with two minutes of added time left, making space on the left of the box before sending his shot across the face of goal.

GOAL! Bournemouth pulled a goal back soon after Baker's missed chance, after Pitman made the most of Bury failing to clear their lines from Fletcher, and was left to shoot from well inside the box, putting the ball into the back of the net.

Bournemouth used the remainder of additional time to pile forward in a vain attempt to draw things level, but Bury were soon defending as a team and clearing the ball up the field.

Substitution for Bournemouth in added time - Alan Connell on for Warren Cummings

The four minutes were soon over as Bury cleared their lines once again, and they will take a well fought for three points back up north. An important win sees them climb into the play offs, just in time to face Bradford at home in the rearranged fixture on Tuesday night. The Shakers haven't played on home turf since Barnet in early December, so everyone will be hopeful to return to Gigg Lane after a snowy layoff.
