Bury 0 Dagenham & Redbridge 0 - Reported by Hannah Ingram at Gigg Lane

Going into today's game, both Bury and Dagenham had drawn blanks in their previous match. Whilst the Shakers had travelled all the way to Barnet for their 0-0, the Daggers travelled to the West Country to Torquay for the same result. As the table stood before the match, Bury were still occupying third place whilst Dagenham were just outside the play offs in ninth place. The return fixture favoured the Daggers as they won 3-1 back in December.

An early chance fell to the Shakers and the head of Futcher at the far post following a corner from BBM. The towering defender headed the ball down, only to watch it cleared from just in front of the line by Danny Green.

Yellow card for Dagenham on 4 minutes - Mark Arber

After breaking clear with the ball on 28 minutes, Dawson strode through midfield with a choice of Morrell, Worrall and Lowe to pass to as the three waited with the Daggers back line. Opting to pass to Lowe on the right wing, the linesman flagged for offside as Lowe finished his chance underneath Daggers keeper Tony Roberts.

Moments later and Dagenham were at the other end of the pitch with Josh Scott walking the ball into the box from the right. Wayne Brown made a brave decision to take the ball from Scott by getting down low and holding onto it.

A snapshot from the edge of the box from Lowe on 36 minutes looked promising, but it bounced just wide of the right post.

Following a clever pass from BBM on the left wing on 40 minutes, Worrall was set up on the left of the box; teeing up a low shot, Roberts got down well to save.

One minute of added time was indicated by the fourth official as Bury came forward once more, but after Dagenham cleared their lines, time was soon called.

Half Time - Shakers 0 Daggers 0

Dagenham started brightly with a chance for Paul Benson a minute into the second half; running forward whilst flanked by Cresswell and Futcher, he tried a shot from just inside the box only to see it go wide.

Dawson was left with plenty of time and space on the left of the box on 51 minutes after a superb ball from Ryan Lowe on the right hand side. Taking his time to try a shot, it was eventually saved by Roberts and the loose ball was cleared by Yoann Folly.

A dangerous corner from BBM on the right on 54 minutes forced a good save from Roberts as he tipped it over the bar.

A cheeky through ball from Buchanan on 61 minutes fell straight to the feet of Ryan Lowe, but after he turned and shot with power, the ball flew just over the bar.

Substitution for Bury on 65 minutes - Andy Bishop on for Andy Morrell

A frantic few minutes of play saw Bury produce their best chance of the match so far. After Dawson kept possession in the middle of the Dagenham half, he passed to Jones on the right hand side who had to fight off pressure before crossing the ball for Worrall on the left of the box. Shooting from six yards out, Taylor got his fingers to it to put the ball over the bar.

Yellow card for Dagenham on 74 minutes - Peter Gain

Danny Green had a good chance to take the lead for the visitors on 75 minutes after having plenty of space on the right of the box. Shooting from close range, Brown read it well and saved low to the ground.

Substitution for Bury on 81 minutes - Sam Hewson on for Michael Jones

Four minutes of additional time were indicated by the fourth official as Bury's frustration continued to show.

A free kick was awarded to Bury with not long of the match remaining after a foul on Dawson from Folly. Taken by BBM 25 yards out, it looped over the Dagenham wall but wide of the right post.

Marlon Pack was given the ball in a dangerous position in the Bury box with seconds remaining, but the pace of the pass saw him chase the ball away from goal to the left.

Time was soon called on another frustrating afternoon for the Shakers. There were chances for the home side, but the problem of stalling when it came to finishing them reared it's ugly head once more. Dagenham had their chances to take a goal and possibly the points but Bury stayed resilient at the back. It can be seen as another point gained, but as Bury relinquish their third place to Chesterfield, it seems more like two dropped.

Bury face bottom club Darlington at Gigg Lane on Tuesday night, and it remains to be seen whether playing the side with the worst goal difference in the league is a promising statistic to Bury when they simply need to score goals.
