Bury's FA Cup Campaign is over after a lack lustre performance at the Recreation Ground saw the home side win the game in the first half.A Bury fight back simply came too late to have any affect on the game.

The Shakers were handed a route to take the lead as early as the first minute when a bad back pass from the impressive Anthony Charles saw leading scorer Ryan Lowe attempt to clip the ball over the home keeper, but in truth, Jaimez-Ruiz was always going to get the ball first and he just managed to clip the ball away from a charging Lowe.

Within moments of that clearance, the Shots got the ball to a very impressive Kirk Hudson, his pace down the flank left Tom Newey chasing and a whipped ball into the middle saw Louie Soares head wide of the target from the edge of the six yard box.

Hudson repeated his run on ten minutes and again had the Shakers defence scrambling to clear the ball.Lewis Chalmers and Louie Soares had combined well to get the ball to Hudson, but this time his cross met the head of Tom Newey who managed to glance the ball out for a home corner.

Bury cleared the danger and quickly charged forward, but a fast flowing move involving seven or eight passes saw the ball fall to Mike Jones on the corner of the Shots box.He took one shot and curled the ball towards goal but fell well wide of the mark and out for an Aldershot goal kick.

A Bury corner moments later saw Aldershot quickly clear the ball with a good header from Charles. The ball fell kindly to Soares who swept it wide to Hudson, he charged forward down the wing and floated a cross into the box that Soares met with a powerful header to glide the ball beyond Wayne Brown for the opening goal in a classic counter attack that showed power and pace.

Goal:  Aldershot Town 1 Bury 0 (Soares 12)

Bury almost got an immediate response with Danny Racchi charging off down the wing, he took the ball past Straker and into the final third before driving a powerfully hit cross into the box.The ball flew just behind Ryan Lowe and perhaps with too much pace for Jones to latch onto and rolled harmlessly out for a throw on the far side.

From the resulting throw, the ball was worked to Hudson in the middle of the park, he played a quick one two with Scott Donnelly and drive a good shot on target from distance that Wayne Brown easily smothered.

With around half an hour of the game gone, the Shakers started to pass the ball around and showed some excellent passing football on 33 minutes and won a free kick in the middle of the Aldershot half.Mike Jones fired the ball at goal from some considerable distance. The ball took one or two deflections in and around the box before falling for Richie Baker. He took one touch to control and then fired the ball at goal but unfortunately flew wide of the upright.

Aldershot doubled their lead two minutes later when Scott Donnelly collected the ball halfway inside the Bury half.He used every trick at his disposal and powered his way through the Bury defence before breaking into the six yard box and drove a powerful effort above Wayne Brown and into the roof of the net.

Goal:  Aldershot Town 2 Bury 1 (Donnelly 35)

The Shots had a good chance to grab a third goal three minutes later when Donnelly & Hudson combined welldown the wing before Hudson had a good shot on goal from the corner of the Bury box well Saved by Wayne Brown.

With five minutes of the first half remaining the Shakers produced two quick efforts on goal.A Danny Racchi cross from the left was masterfully headed down by Richie Baker to Ryan Lowe who actually put the ball into the back of the Shots goal, but turned to see the offside flag raised.Moments later a clever reverse pass from Buchanan fed the ball to Jones, his pass into the box again fell to Lowe around seven yards off the goal line but he blazed the ball high over the cross bar.

Half time:  Aldershot Town 2 Bury 0

Neither side made any changes at the break and Wayne Brown had Shakers hearts raised within a minute when he charged out of his area to clear a loose ball. His initial clearance hit the back of Marvin Morgan but fell kindly back to Brown who this time managed to get the ball up the field and away from danger.

Moments later Bury broke forward with Richie Baker. With a player available either side of him he drove the ball towards Ryan Lowe, but over hit the pass. This brought a stern telling off from Lowe to Baker; meanwhile though Danny Racchi had chased the loose ball to the byline and he managed to prize it away form Sandell before turning and spraying the ball across the face of goal.No other player had reacted to Racchi's endeavours and a good chance was lost.

On 64 minutes Bury won a free kick, but with Ryan Lowe still protesting about the foul, Barry-Murphy took the free kick very quickly and got the ball to the furthest forward Shaker - David Buchanan. The Shakers normal left back, playing at right back, shot towards goal but only found the chest of keeper Jaimez-Ruiz.

Another Bury free kick on 68 minutes saw Barry-Murphy's delivery quickly cleared by the home defence and they set about with another quick counter attack. This time though Soares was flagged offside by the assistant and their chance to increase the lead was lost.

Mike Jones produced a shot out of nothing on 72 minutes following some good work by Stephen Dawson in the middle of the park, but again, Jones' effor4t sailed harmlessly wide of the target.

Efe Sodje collected his fifth yellow card of the season on 76 minutes following a foul on substitute John Grant and will now sit out Tuesday's JPT game at Aldershot with a one game suspension.

Paul Scott made an appearance from the bench going into the middle of the park whilst Ben Futcher replaced Racchi with Cresswell going up front, but no matter how many times Alan Knill tried to change the shape, the Shakers simply could not break through a resolute back four.

Stephen Dawson later wrote the story of the game in his post match interview - 'We huffed and puffed but didn't play well.'A simple statement that sums up the game perfectly.Bury were simply not at the races today and its Aldershot who deservedly progress to the second round of the FA Cup.
