Parrish eager to rise
Andy Parrish is determined to ride with the changes to keep progressing in the Shakers squad.
The young defender, who turns 19 next month, admits he was surprised when the club announced that Bury boss Chris Casper would be joined by Keith Alexander next season.
Their decision, which ultimately spelled the end for Martin Scott's time at the club, is likely to mean a new direction at Gigg Lane - and Parrish, for one, can't wait to hop on board.
"I think we were all surprised when they said Keith would come in, and that Scotty would be leaving," Parrish said.
"But I have heard nothing but good things about him, and hopefully he and the gaffer can be a success together.
"People say he knows a lot about the non-leagues and I can't wait to get started again."
It is likely to be an important season in the development of the Bolton - born teenager, who forced his way into the first team plans at the end of last season following Chris Brass' hernia operation and Paul Scott's shift to the centre of midfield.
It had, until then, been a frustrating time flitting between the subs' bench and the reserves, but after being offered a new deal to stay at the club for next season, Parrish intends to cement his place in the squad.
"It is important for me to keep pushing on and trying to get into the first team as much as possible," Parrish said. "There might be a change of style with a new coach coming in, but I can't see things changing that drastically. Next season I want to start more games and get more experience, and that should hopefully make me a better player."
Another bonus for Parrish, was the news that his mentor, Colin Woodthorpe, had also been handed a chance to stay at the club.
He added: "He has been a massive help for me, and a lot of the young lads at the club because he's always willing to pass on his experience and offer you advice."
