Yeo not the only option

Keith Alexander insists he won't be losing any sleep if Chester choose not to cash in on Simon Yeo.

The Shakers director of football has tracked the 33-year-old striker all summer, and had an approach rejected by City last week.

The deal is now at somewhat of a standstill, and with the arrival of former Crewe hitman Rodney Jack on trial at Gigg Lane on Friday, the club would appear to be weighing up other options.

Alexander maintains that he would like to renew acquaintance with the player he signed at both Lincoln and Peterborough, but after Yeo hit a hat-trick against Telford in a pre-season friendly, Chester boss Bobby Williamson is less likely to give up his man without a fight.

The Shakers are keen to add one more striker to their ranks - although Alexander has ruled out former Wrexham man Lee McEvily as a possible target.

He has, however, got plenty of other irons in the fire.

"There are plenty of other strikers in the sea," Alexander joked.

"The hat-trick came against Telford, so you have to put it into context, but it should come as no surprise because that's what Simon does, he scores goals.

"I have enjoyed working with him in the past, but if it doesn't happen then we have other targets."
