Need to Keep Going
"Pre-season has gone well so far and it has been well planned. We have had double sessions on some days and it is all being done to an agenda and to a target, and I think the lads are enjoying it and step by step we are getting fitter and stronger and while it has been enjoyable it has been hard at the same time. I think it is important that we enjoy it at the same time even though it is tough.
"We come in during the morning and do our stretches before we head off for training where we spend an hour and a half or two hours getting into intense games and situations which have been very enjoyable and that's what you want. You come into work and there is a good ethic about the lads and that starts from the top with the gaffer and Chris Wilder who will sit and plan what to do and the lads appreciate that which is clear during the sessions".
"The swimming has been enjoyable. There have been a few Titanic's but other than that is has been good and it definitely improves your fitness levels. I think it is good that pre-season is separated with a few events because you can get a bit of mental boredom. You get some lads who will be focusing day to day and those who are focusing on the 9th of August. Team spirit is high and the new players that we have signed realise that we all have a part to play and that's the important thing".
"There are no big timers and no one thinks they are better than everybody else and we all have a job to do. Whether that is ten games or fifteen games or whatever it may be we are all contributing to the season".
"One Tuesday I did get two goals but the important thing was the team performance. We played really well and it was a good team effort, and it is good to get a 45 minutes run out and anything more than that is a bonus. I would say that they were typical goals from me and it sets the season off in the right direction and we need to keep that going".
"It will be a different type of game on Saturday and we will be able to test ourselves against Huddersfield, and we will see how big the difference really is between League One and League Two".
