Hopefully - a week away

Posted on: Fri 07 Aug 2009

"I'm gutted I wont be fit for Saturday but the injury is coming on well and I'm feeling good.  Thursday was my first day of running plus I also kicked a ball again so it's looking very positive at the moment.  Hopefully come the next of next week, but definitely the week after, I will be back in full training.  It's been good and is healing well."

"Depending on how the lads do, I hope to be straight back in.  It will be tough though to get back into the side.  The two injuries, the knee and the hernia are both kind of linked to play with injuries last season.  Now it's been sorted, I am 100% fit and chomping at the bit to get going.  Even though I only had the operation last week on the hernia problem, I feel better now that I did for the entire season last year.'

'I'm now settled in Bury after buying a house here and that alone makes a massive difference.  It's great to be only five minutes away, even just for treatment - its 100% better.  The wife is settled here and working and its all worked out very well.  The speculation is still there, there has been a couple of clubs interested but I don't want to leave here and that's the way it was again."

"We can only look forward to the new season.  The gaffer has strengthened the team again and everything around the place is positive.  The lads look pretty sharp in training and I think we are looking good so fingers crossed for Saturday that we get a good start."

"We have four good strikers at the club and all four of us want to start each game.  It will be good playing with whoever starts.  I think the league is also a lot stronger than last year.  A lot of good players are filtering down the leagues so everyone is getting a lot stronger now.  Even the Conference is stronger these days with players dropping out of the league."

"Notts County should do well this season with the signings that they have made but there are lots of other teams like Rotherham who should have been promoted last year but for the point's deduction.  It's a tougher league but we will not be the surprise package anymore, its all about consistency in this league and it could be any one of many teams that do well."
