No concentration

Posted on: Wed 12 Aug 2009

"We started slowly and maybe even overwhelmed with playing such a big team, and live on sky.  Two bad mistakes led to two goals and we were out of the game.  Trying to score two goals against a former premier league side is hard, they can defend really well and there side was full of really good players."

"Both goals were bad goals and the gaffer has talked about it, now we have to rectify it.  They are not mistakes that we normally make or that we made last season.  Its just switching off and a lack of concentration.  I don't think we gave them too much respect.  A lack of concentration at key times.  Premiership quality players do not give you the chance; you basically have to create goals yourself."

"For one of the goals, we were unlucky not to get the chance on goal but a quick break with around five touches - the balls in the back of our net."

"It was the same on Saturday; a lack of concentration on two of he goals and it was the same again on Tuesday night.  That's all it is, we played quite well in the second half, just stupid goals and a lack of concentrations."

"We can take a lot from the second half.  A lot of people thought they had to get on the ball and play but we got back in the game and we did create a few chances.  If Sodje's header has been legal we would have been back in the game, we could have had them on the run for the last 15 minutes but it wasn't to be."

"We did really well in the second half and it was a big difference.  We got on the ball, we weren't scared of trying to pass it around and move the ball.  Its more concentration and more team work."

"They have a team of really good footballers, they are quick and strong and it's really hard to get a few yards on them to play a pass so your touch has got to be more or less perfect every time or they get the tackle in."

"People think that these types of players give you a lot of time on the ball, they don't, they are really quick and they work really hard to get the ball back."
