"From a professional point of view, it was good to win the game and from an individual point of view - that was my 750th senior appearance. Nobody knew about it that was just for me but it was good - it was poetic that it came at Gigg Lane. I've got a lot of family roots here and obviously I am indebted to this club because they gave me the opportunity to play at Championship level, and then for Charlton to see me play and to kick on my career. I know how big a part Bury played in my career and the reception I got was good, it was superb."
"It was brilliant to get that reception, and I got the same when I went back to Charlton with West Brom, and it was the same here on Tuesday. It means a lot because as the seasons tick by, people maybe forget what happened here maybe ten or twelve years ago, but certainly on a quiet moment, I don't forget the times here. Playing in the championship with Bury was great and really special. The club gave me a fantastic opportunity so it's great to come back."
"It was a golden era and I don't think I am overstating it by talking about it. We had some fantastic players here with a really good team ethic about the group. Everyone got on, on and off the field which was important. It was a really happy time. The wife made a point of coming tonight, my little boy who was born in Bury came with her and he's been shown around the place. They spent the afternoon having a wander around and it's good to see some old faces. It's been a great day for my family here."

"It's good to keep clean sheet as well, and I do keep a total of them all and that was my 244th clean sheet. Its something that I am very proud about, it's only for me and my stats but it means a lot to me."
"Last year was the first season that I spent on the bench behind someone, its extremely frustrating but if you lose that desire and the fire in your belly and accept being number two, then that's not being true to myself. I get on tremendously well with Scott Carson, we work really well together and I respect him immensely, but he knows that I want to play in the team and I am working hard Monday to Friday to try and get into the team. That desire hasn't gone and there is a few good years left in me yet."
"I followed what happened here last year closely and it was disappointing to see them miss out. But there is a structure here and a squad in place that will challenge this division, and I am certainly hopeful. I made a point on the way up to tell the fans that I will be watching and I do hope that they kick on to try and get up the divisions'. It's not an empty gesture; I really hope they do it."
