We huffed and puffed

Posted on: Sun 08 Nov 2009

"We have no excuses, between the eleven of us we know we didn't start the game right.  We've done everything right all week and the gaffer set us up brilliantly and in the first 45 minutes we were outplayed.  We came at them in the second half but we huffed and puffed, but you look at the squad now and we have no excuses and we didn't deserve to win the game."

"Aldershot deserved the win hands down.  A couple of weeks ago we competed against them and we were lucky to win that game, but we just didn't start well enough on Saturday.  We were a little better in the second half, we did well and we are fighting hard for each other, but we finished with two centre halves playing as forwards for the last ten minutes."

"Unfortunately, that's the position the club is in, we've just got to keep going and now its Tuesdays nights game at Accrington Stanley.  We will just keep going, that's all we can do.  Yes we could do with a bit of help, but I'm not going to make excuses, for the first 45 minutes - including myself - we didn't play, we let out standards drop."

"People can say it was a game too far, that's an excuse.  Now we have to go again on Tuesday.  We have to hold our hands up and say that we were outplayed, we weren't good enough.  In the second half we were better and they hardly got out of their half.  You expect that when your 2-0 down."

"We are in for training on Sunday and we go into Tuesday's game, which is another big game for us.  People say it's a Mickey Mouse cup, but if we get that then we have a chance in the following games.  That's what we are looking at now."

"Sodje is out for Tuesday now, what can we do, Futch will come in and instead of having two subs on the bench, we will have one because that's all there is.  Its no use making excuses, that's all the gaffer has got left.  He's doing brilliantly just with that and I know he is trying to get somebody in next week and whether we do or not is upto the board."

"Hats off to Aldershot, I thought they were the better team and they deserved to win the game.  We played like the second half two or three weeks ago and sort of got away with the result.  We had chances and Lowey did stick one in that was offside, Richie Baker could have got one, but we have no excuses, they deserved it."
