"To take anything from Crewe will take a good performance from us on Saturday. They are a good footballing side, they always have been but they've had an up and down start to their season and we are going to have to be at our best to get anything off them on Saturday.
Dario Gradi was on the Crewe website on Thursday saying that he would rather have kept me, it's all right saying that now. At the end of last season he mentioned to me that he might have to let me go to give the younger players the chance and that he will be forced into playing his younger players so they had to get me off the wage bill. That's what it came down to in the end and I fully understand that, plus it was probably time for me to move on anyway - I needed a fresh start. It's nice for Dario to say that he should have kept me, but I am at Bury now and I'm very happy here.
Historically Crewe are a good footballing side, that's the way Dario likes to play the game plus he has some lads their with good ability so it will be our job to try and stop them and put it to our advantage to play our game.
I don't have to prove a point at Crewe. I don't think my performances were too bad, when I was fit I played and to be fair, the supporters and the management there didn't really see the best from me because I didn't really get a decent run of games where I could go and show what I could do. I've nothing to prove to Crewe, but I had a point to prove to myself in coming to Bury because I had to get my head down and work hard.
Now I'm going back as captain of Bury, though I did captain Crewe a couple of times. Dario tends to rotate the captaincy between a few players, but I'm delighted to be captain here and I'm glad to be going back to Crewe as skipper. I'm really enjoying it here.
The game last weekend with Gillingham was mad, if we had lost that game I think I'd have cried my eyes out. At half time, we should have been four or five nil up. If we had lost that game it would have been criminal. We didn't defend well enough, they got a bit of a break in our box now and then, but we didn't defend. I was so happy when the final whistle went, I think I jumped about 15 feet in the air, I just couldn't wait for the final whistle.
It was a good feeling to come off the field with three points. The one thing that was going through my mind throughout the game was that we shouldn't be in this position. We needed to get more of a stamp on the game and we should have kept the ball a bit better and not allow them to put it into our box, to get corners and throw ins. It was frustrating with everything that they seemed to throw in fell for me, and along with a couple of mistakes here and there, we let them back in.
It was probably a good game to watch, but it wasn't a good one to play in. Its good to be involved with when you win. It does take a lot out of you but its not good when you lose.
I can't imagine how the Gillingham lads felt, though to be fair, I don't think they deserved to win the game. They will have looked at themselves and said that they way they defended wasn't good enough and they should have been out of the game at half time. To come and score four goals, you'd think you'd go with something, but overall, I don't think they deserved anything.
We sat in the dressing room at half time and there was no thought about the game being over.2-0 is a funny scoreline, the gaffer told us that it was a horrible scoreline because if they get one goal, they are right back in it. We all said that we have to keep it tight for the first ten minutes of the second half, but it lasted about 47 seconds and that kind of killed our game plan.
We are not at full pace yet, it will definitely get better. If we had one more win out of the two draws, then we would have been fairly happy. We are sitting ok at the moment on 8 points, its only five games in and we are nowhere near up and running yet. The team is gelling, we all know what we have to do, we all understand each other and how what is required. Everyone made a bit of a deal about it, but we've just got on with it."
