Alan Knill handed a night off to Wayne Brown, Ryan Lowe and Richie Baker, but still managed to field 21 players on a rain swept night at Stainton Park.

The Shakers showed their intent as early as the fourth minute when David Buchanan managed to whip a curling ball into the Radcliffe area but a leaping Andy Bishop only managed to glance a fleeting header towards the home keeper, though three minutes later, Bishop put Bury into the lead with a well worked goal.

A long range headed clearance fell kindly for Bishop who quickly flashed the ball wide to trialists Simon Johnson.Johnson swerved and tricked his way past the Borough full back before clipping the back to Andy Bishop who stood waiting for the pass on the edge of the Radcliffe Box.Bishop received the ball with one touch and quickly fired a low drive at goal that took a wicked deflection on the way through a sea of legs to deceive home keeper Phil Priestley.

It took another ten minutes before Bury carved open another chance.A long range drive from Danny Racchi brought a sublime flick from Bishop to see the ball fall just in front of Danny Carlton, but the former Carlisle striker found himself in a one on one situation with keeper Priestly.Unfortunately both crunched together with the keeper firmly grasping the ball, though neither player collected any injury from the crunching challenge.

Just before the half hour, Simon Johnson again provided a telling ball towards another trialist Danny Frewen, without thinking Frewen lashed a fierce drive towards goal but a solid block by a home defender saw the ball skew away for a Bury corner.Racchi's delivery flew straight to Barry-Murphy who again hit the ball first time though his effort flew high over the bar

Moments later David Buchanan played a telling ball towards Danny Carlton, Carlton produced an equally telling pass to the feet of Andy Bishop, but like the previous effort from Barry-Murphy, this one from Bishop again flew high over the cross bar and out of the Stadium.

Shortly before half time, Danny Racchi put his speculative shooting boots into overdrive by lashing a firm drive that was always rising and veering away from goal. The best move of the half came just before the break with Bury producing a six crisp passing move involving Johnson, Carlton, Racchi, Barry-Murphy and eventually Bishop. With Andy Bishop obviously in shooting mood, keeper Priestly had to be at his best to tip the final shot from the Shakers leading scorer just around the post for a Bury corner.

Half time: Radcliffe Borough 0 Bury 1

Only keeper Cameron Belford appeared from the first half for the second half, though he was joined by player of the season Stephen Dawson and Ryan Cresswell.Domaine Rouse completed the quartet of contracted players with seven trialists making up the eleven.

It took only five minutes for the make shift Shakers to stamp their authority on the game with Dean Stott playing a sublime pass though the Radcliffe middle.Livewire Junior Brown quickly drove the ball across the box where Domaine Rouse was on hand to slam the ball into the back of the net to double the Shakers advantage.

For the next 20 or so minutes, it seemed to be relentless pressure from the league side.A Euan O'Kane fierce drive on 55 minutes brought a well blocked corner for Bury.Five minutes later and a long Cameron Belford clearance brought a superb flick on from Junior Brown only for Domaine Rouse to smash just wide of the upright.Three minutes later and O'Kane was involved again, a cross injected into the box with some pace brought a deft header from Junior Brown, though again his effort flew just wide of the mark.

Domaine Rouse flew into action with a run of pure energy and footwork to take the ball through three defenders before being fouled on the edge of the box.The resulting free kick taken by Chris Overington brought a quick reaction save from keeper Priestly though he failed to hold onto the ball. The resulting clearance fell kindly to Damian Allen and his ferocious volley flew wide of the post and out of the stadium.

A challenge on Domaine Rouse moments later brought handbags at five paces from a gaggle of players though it finished with Stephen Dawson and a Radcliffe player squaring up.Thankfully the official quickly calmed tempers without the need of any cards.

With the Shakers playing some excellent football, another flowing move was finished with Domaine Rouse driving a firm shot just over the bar.On seventy minutes a defence splitting pass form full back Dean Stott fell superbly to Damian Allen, but his drive across the keeper again sailed harmlessly out of play for a goal kick

With minutes of the game left, the home side won a free kick on the edge of the box.Cameron Belford had spent the best part of the second half as a virtual spectator but was helpless in preventing a stunning curling free kick finding the top corner to make the final score a 2-1 win for the Shakers.
