A warm sunny afternoon in Fleetwood in their hugely impressive Highbury Stadium saw the Brown shirted Shakers take to the field in bright sunlight. The Shakers started the game moments after an impeccable minutes silence in memory of Sir Bobby Robson, who died on Friday.

The opening moments brought two good half chances - one for either side.Bury moved the ball forward quickly with Lowe & Carlton combining well to get the ball to Mike Jones, though he lost the race for the ball with former Radcliffe Borough keeper Danny Hurst smothering the loose ball.Moments later Fleetwood had their first chance with Sean Clancy firing the ball across the face of goal.A quick pass back to Clancy saw the home side striker fire straight at Wayne Brown who held the ball.

A tenth minute free kick following a foul on a charging Richie Baker brought a raucous reaction from the home followers, but Brian Barry-Murphy's delivery into the box floated just over Ryan Lowe's head on the six yard line.

Five minutes later and Bury had another good free kick, this time though Barry-Murphy floated a stunning curling effort to the back stick where an unmarked Efe Sodje rose high to head the ball back across the goal mouth, and unfortunately out of play. A foul on BBM moments later saw Jones' free kick met by the forehead of Danny Carlton, though his effort flew straight into the arms of keeper Hurst.

A hideous foul on Danny Racchi on 21 minutes brought another free kick from Mike Jones, this effort, driven into the box with some pace again met the head of Carlton though this time he failed to get the direction right and the ball rolled away for a goal kick.

Fleetwood should have taken the lead on 30 minutes. A long through ball from former England man Alan Wight split the Shakers defence in two, with Michael Wilde bearing down at pace on the ball, he fired quickly and stood in disbelief and the ball skimmed off Wayne Brown's diving underside and out for a goal kick.

Moments later and Bury had a half chance with Danny Racchi.A mis-placed back pass saw the Shakers pick up the ball, eventually Danny Racchi collected the ball and from the corner of the box attempted to place an effort at goal, though the keeper was deceived, the ball rolled harmlessly out of play.

The goal finally came some ten minutes before half time.A long ball through the middle again found Michael Wilde on the corner of the box, with Wayne Brown charging off his line there was only one option for the Fleetwood striker, and he lifted the ball over Brown with aplomb to land it into the far corner of the Shakers goal.

Goal:Fleetwood Town 1 Bury 0 (Wilde 34)

Bury nearly hit back some three minutes later with Mike Jones producing some good work down the left, his telling ball into the box was headed down by Racchi and laid off the a chjarging Paul Scott. His fierce drive at goal drifted wide of the target, though the Shakers would come again with two more chances in the next minute.First Mike Jones who attempted to place the ball across the keeper - his effort was well held by keeper Hurst. Then Ryan Lowe with a quick turn on the edge of the box that again drifted wide of the target.

Sean Clancy should have made it two on 43 minutes when a Wilde cross was failed to be cleared by Cresswell and Sodje, Clancy stood just off the pair and fired a drive at goal that Wayne Brown pushed away for a corner. From that corner, Clancy found himself a free header that just drifted wide of the goal.

Half time:Fleetwood Town 1 Bury 0

Alan Knill made two changes at the break with Mike Jones and Efe Sodje both failing to return for the second half.Simon Johnson and Ben Futcher both started in their respective places, and it was Johnson was had the first chance of the second half, a quick reaction inside the six yard box saw his effort fly to the right hand side of former Shakers keeper Aaron Grundy's post.

Bury hit back soon after, a Bury corner was whipped into the box by Danny Racchi, though his effort failed to get past the first defender. His clearance fell to BBM who whipped the ball back to Racchi, he took the ball at pace into the middle of the final third and fired a strong effort on goal.Aaron Grundy got down and smothered the shot but failed to hang onto the ball, Danny Carlton whipped in and poked the ball home to make it all square.

Goal:Fleetwood Town 1 Bury 1 (Carlton 50)

Another chance came the Shakers way on 54 minutes, a BBM free kick just inside the Fleetwood half was floated towards Ben Futcher, he flicked the ball into the box with a deft looping header towards Ryan Cresswell, though Grundy was more than a match to Cresswell's effort.

The next chance came to the home side on 56 minutes; Wilde took the ball to the byline and floated the ball into the box above Wayne Brown.Paul Scott got in front of Wilde and pocked the ball out for a corner. From that corner, Ricky Mercer found a free header too easy to miss and put the ball the opposite corner to restore the home side's advantage.

Goal:Fleetwood Town 2 Bury 1 (Mercer 57)

Ryan Lowe produced a good effort on 63 minutes when he took the ball off Mercer, with only the keeper to beat, he chipped the ball at goal from outside the area, but unfortunately put the ball over the bar for a goal kick.

Ryan Cresswell produced the challenge of the game on 75 minutes. Sean Clancy had picked up a good through ball and was charging into the Bury area with just Wayne Brown to beat.As Clancy was preparing to pull the trigger, Cresswell hooked a foot around the ball and cleared to the obvious annoyance of the home fans. Their anger was doubled when the referee waved away any claim for a penalty.

David Buchanan produced a good run into the Fleetwood box on 82 minutes, he took the ball deep into the six yard box before firing the ball at goal that Aaron Grundy tipped around the post.  A firece Richie Baker drive on 85 minutes looked destined for the back of the net, but struck the upright with Simon Johnson failing to get to the rebound before a home defender.  With the minutes ont he clock ticking down, Aaron Grundy produced a double save from Domaine Rouse, both from close range.
