Injuries are Richie Barker's biggest headache as he heads down to the South coast for a Southampton training session before an overnight stop in Bournemouth ahead of Saturdays game.

Ashley Eastham was rated doubtful by Barker on Thursday, David Worrall has not travelled with a small tear on hip muscles and David Amoo has hardly trained with an ankle injury. The good news is that Mark Hughes came through his sudden first appearance since injury last weekend with no reaction to his hamstring. He did however complain of feeling rusty - and that's something the manager has worked on with Hughes throughout the week.

Both Steven Schumacher and Mark Hughes are available and both could reclaim their respective starting positions. Richie Barker has a choice of either Andrai Jones or Mark Hughes to slot in should Eastham not make it whilst Schumacher could also reclaim his shirt - and armband - should Amoo fail his fitness race.

As Richie Barker arrived back into the Brisbane Road dressing room last weekend, following the 1-0 defeat, he walked into a full debate from his own players on how to correct the defeat, how to prevent it from happening again and a full discussion already underway on not losing two games on the bounce.

The reaction from the players continued to be positive throughout the week with several excellent training sessions put on by the coaching staff and the squad left Gigg Lane this morning in fighting mood.

October has been a long and tiring month for the Shakers - Yeovil Town away, Leyton orient away and now Bournemouth away. The good news to come though is that there are only four long distance trips left this season (Colchester, Charlton, Stevenage & Exeter).

David Worrall will spend the weekend though in the North West. Relaxation is the cure for his injury and his return to full training will only be a short one. A scan on Wednesday brought the right results for the management. It was initially thought a tear to his groin would be discovered with even a threat of surgery being the only outcome. Thankfully the injury is no where near as first though and a week to ten days out of training should see him return in top condition.

A two and half year contract for Worrall has boosted his own morale, and the award of a new deal will send a clear message to the rest of the squad that deals are available - if your work for them and if the manager thinks you deserve it. Barker has already drawn a list of players that he feels need looking after and we may see more signing contracts soon.

Another positive is the extended loan deal for David Amoo. Richie Barker asked him on the way back from Orient last weekend if he fancied another month at Gigg Lane. Amoo's first reaction stunned the Shakers gaffer - he simply said 'no' - but then quickly added - 'I'd like to stay until after Christmas'. Arrangements were made, Liverpool agreed and here he is. As David is on a 'Youth Loan', his loan can be extended (with Liverpool's agreement of course) upto his 21st Birthday in April. Should the management want him for the rest of the season, then his 'youth loan' will have to be converted to a full loan. It is possible that we could see Mr. Amoo in a Bury shirt until the end of the season.

David Amoo asked for a longer stay at Bury, Shane Byrne wanted a longer stay at Bury - its the same with Trevor Carson and Ashley Eastham - Giles Coke is slightly different. Of the five loan players, only Coke is close to returning to his home club and walking straight into their first team. Cokey's loan is coming to a close soon - decisions will be made, but it may be down to Sheffield Wednesday and their future plans for him.

Something must be right when loan players want to stay. Shane Byrne has even turned down international appearances to stay with Bury. It's far too important for me to stay here he said following the Yeovil game. Fair play to the lad, he does seem to be enjoying it.

Bournemouth Manager Lee Bradbury has no new injury worries. Steven Gregory (groin) and Shaun Cooper (knee) came through the 2-2 draw with MK Dons last week without aggravating their injuries, and both will feature again.

Bradbury is also looking to give new signing Charlie Sheringham a chance to shine at some stage. Sheringham signed from non-league side Dartford on Thursday, and the striker is likely to be named on the bench in place of Steve Fletcher.

The Cherries will be hoping to continue their recent revival which has seen them embark on a four-match unbeaten run following a shaky start to the season.

The south-coast side climbed out of the relegation places with their point at stadium:mk and will look to pull further away from the danger zone.

Bury's last visit to Dean Court brought three points - the same again would go down a treat

A word on them....

OPTIMISTIC manager Lee Bradbury is convinced Cherries can still feature in the League One play-off picture - providing they can restore home rule.

A dismal record at the Seward Stadium has checked Cherries' progress this season with just one win and four points garnered from six league games.

Michael Symes's second-half penalty equaliser ensured Bradbury's men would halt an alarming run of four successive home defeats when they hosted Rochdale 13 days ago.

And Cherries will have the ideal opportunity to arrest their home slump when they face Dale's struggling neighbours Bury tomorrow (3pm).

Despite suffering just one defeat in their past seven league and cup games and boasting a four-match unbeaten run on the road, only goal difference is keeping Cherries out of the relegation zone.

Since starting his reign with a 10-match unbeaten run, Bradbury has presided over 11 league home games - winning and drawing two and losing seven.

Speaking to the Daily Echo following the 2-2 draw at MK Dons six days ago, Bradbury said: "We need to win our home games. We had a great home record last season and it was one of the best in the division until towards the end of the season. We need to get that in force again and, if we can do that and keep picking up points away from home, we will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. It is about getting consistency.

"It was good that we stopped the rot against Rochdale. I just feel the lads need to play with the confidence that they do away from home. I can't put my finger on why but we just haven't had the results at home. I want the lads to play freely, express themselves and to work hard for each other. They have done that at home but we have just been a little unfortunate in our results.

"We have lost one in seven and that is a good record. We deserved something from the game we lost against Hartlepool. We are taking really positive steps at this moment in time. We just need to get that elusive win at home."

Striker Michael Symes could be in line to make his first start of the season against the Shakers after impressing in three substitute appearances since recovering from a groin injury.

Symes, also speaking to the Daily Echo following the draw at MK Dons six days ago, said: "I certainly don't feel any added pressure when I play at home and have never heard the lads mention that.

"We are on a little run of unbeaten games and I think it is only a matter of time before we start winning our home games."
