After impressing over pre-season (2010/11), striker Lenell John-Lewis put pen to paper on a twelve month contract at Gigg Lane.'Lenny' began his career as a youth team player at Grantham Town. He made just four appearances for Grantham before he was signed by Lincoln City as a trainee. It was while he was still a trainee that he made his first team Lincoln City FC debut in November 2006. However, he had to wait a year before making another first team appearance.Lenell was six months into his second year as a Scholar at Sincil Bank when he was offered a professional contract by then Red Imps manager Peter Jackson.Lenny, who had a trial for Middlesbrough prior to joining the Imps in the summer of 2006, was handed his first team debut as a substitute as a 17-year-old in an FA Cup first round tie against Port Vale whilst his Football League bow came 12 months later in a League 2 clash at Wycombe Wanderers, again as a substitute.
His first Football League goal came along two weeks later at Stockport County and it wasn't long before he pen-to-paper on a professional contract that will run until the summer of 2010.He capped an excellent first League season by being named as joint 'Young Player of the but suffered an injury-hit second half to the 2008/09 season, which restricted him to just two starts after Christmas.However, a change in management at Sincil Bank, with Chris Sutton taking over the hot-seat, saw Lenny become out of favour and he was placed on the transfer list on 07 May 2010, just two weeks later he departed the Imps by mutual consent.His Red Imps career brought him 81 appearances and nine goals.
Mostly used from the bench during the Shakers promotion season, Lenny went onto make 39 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals.Lenny has also become something of a cult hero to Bury fans, who have conjured up many songs about the Shakers striker.
