Cameron Belford joined the Shakers in August 2007 season after being released by Coventry City. The midlands based keeper had come through the Sky Blue's Youth System but found himself surplus to requirements despite several impressive performances for their second string. Cameron also spent time out on loan whilst with Coventry at non league Tamworth where he made just one appearance. Another loan spell came after he joined Bury and he spent three months at Blue Square North side Worcester City making another 19 starts.
Cam had to wait until the final game of the 07/08 season before he was seen in a first team keeper's shirt when he was used as a substitute in the 75th minute of a 2-0 win at Accrington Stanley. He made another fleeting appearance the season after as a half time substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers. Another appearance from the bench came in October 2009 when he came off the bench after only 27 minutes of Bury's 2-1 win at Gigg Lane. His first start for the club was again at Accrington, this time in the Q/Final of the JPT but he was presented with his league debut on 13 April 2010. Following a red card to first choice keeper Wayne Brown in a game at Cheltenham Town, Cameron got his debut the following weekend - some three years after joining and claimed the keeper's shirt for the rest of last season. His reward for a string of fine displays was to be named first choice keeper for the 2010/11 Season.
A facial injury against Southend at Gigg Lane last season saw Cam undergo surgery to have a metal plate fitted to his face following a smashed cheekbone. The injury kept him out for just eight games and he quickly returned to first team action. In total, Cameron started 42 games last season in all competitions and his reward come May was his first medal in professional football as the Shakers finished second in League Two.
