Rotherham born Ryan Cresswell joined the Shakers on a two year contract before the start of the 2008/09 season on a free transfer from Sheffield United. Ryan had been due to join Hungarian side Ferenvacos on a season long loan, but a move to Gigg Lane was a better option for him.
A tall powerful central defender, that has gained league experience after coming through the academy system at Bramall Lane. Loan moves to Halifax, Rotherham, Morecambe and Macclesfield Town have brought a total of 64 appearances in total. During his short career, Cressa has also scored two goals, once for Macclesfield whilst on loan and the other a bullet header for the Shakers at Notts County's meadow Lane last season - a game that Bury won 1-0.
Ryan played a total of 28 games for the Shakers during his first season despite being kept out of the side by strong performances from other central defenders at the club.
