Visitors Man United flew out of the blocks at a rain soaked Gigg Lane, but it was the Shakers that got the ball into the opponent's box first.A good ball forward from Haslam brought a great flicked header from Hurst, but Chris Mason was unable to get to the ball before the last defender guarded the ball out of play for a goal kick.
Keeper Foster launched the ball forward to Sam Hewson, and his long range drive skidded out of play off Steve Haslam for an early corner.A good delivery into the box brought a neat flick from Danny Welbeck, but the ball rose high over Cameron Belford's crossbar - all within the first 90 seconds.
Hewson tried his luck again on six minutes from distance, but Belford did well to smother the effort after an awkward bounce on the six yard line. From his clearance, Haslam and Anane combined well down the flank where Anane whipped the ball into the box, but a good spring from keeper Ben Foster saw him hold the ball.
Carlos Edmonson-Rouse received a yellow card on eight minutes for a rash challenge on David Gray.
A tenth minute through ball from Ryan Cresswell had Glynn Hurst scampering after the ball, but a good tackle from James Chester put the ball out from a throw.Hurst's quick throw found Ricky Anane and his quick turn deceived Da Silva before he danced along the edge of the box, though he eventually went over from a challenge and the momentum was lost.
Bury turned the screw on 14 minutes with some excellent passing football on the edge of the box between Anane, Hurst and Dorney - but twice balls were hurled into the box only for James Chester to smash clear. From one clearance, United broke forward and a tackle from Cresswell brought down Danny Wellbeck in a dangerous position on the edge of the Bury box.
From the resulting free kick, Magnus Eikrem curled the ball around the Bury wall and beyond Cameron Belford to take a 15th minute lead
Goal: Bury 0 Manchester United 1 (Eikrem 15)
Richie Baker was the next into the box on 18 minutes after another crunching tackle on Wellbeck.
Jack Dorney produced some neat footwork on 20 minutes to get the ball into the corner, after shrugging aside a challenge from Eckersley, his ball into the box saw Hurst leap looking for the header, but Ben Foster read the cross well and held the ball.Eckersley meanwhile had gone down injured in the corner following the challenge.
Bury produced a good move on 22 minutes with Dorney & Racchi combining well down the flank, but a challenge from Eckersley brought Racchi to the floor for a free kick.Dorney whipped the ball into the box for Hurst to leap but again, Foster manager to get the ball away, but only as far as David Thompson.Scouser Thompson though lost the ball under his feet and United again cleared their lines.
Ricky Anane was causing Da Silva many problems and another good run down the wing on 24 minutes saw him fly past the United defender, his curling ball into the box from the touchline brought a good header from Chris Mason, though his directional skills were a little off key and the ball flew harmlessly out of play.
The quality of Jack Dorney's crossing into the box was constantly testing the United back line, and another superb ball on 26 minutes saw Gray fire the ball over his own bar and out for a corner.Though United initially delivered the delivery, it came back into the box via Racchi only for the visitors' to break quickly.Excellent work from Anane though saw him slide into the box to push the ball away from Wellbeck.
Richie Baker intercepted a United clearance on 32 minutes after a bad ball from Gray. His ball back into the United box though went the wrong direction for Hurst who had switched his run as Baker delivered it.
Jack Dorney produced another moment of sublime skill on 35 minutes as he charged forward with the ball. With a couple of body swerves he took he ball past two defenders before being felled by the final man at the back.Moments later, Dorney again slid the ball into the box for Hurst, though the momentum of the ball saw a defender slide through the Bury striker to clear for a corner.
Bury should be back in the game on 38 minutes with more good football, though perhaps they over complicated matters.A good ball to the edge of the area had the crowd waiting for an obvious hot on goal from Glynn Hurst, but instead he played it to Racchi whose shot was always rising over the bar and into the stand.

A Richie Baker 47th minute corner saw the United defence clear the ball to Jack Dorney on the edge of the box. Dorney collected the ball on his chest and fired a half volley at goal that was again blocked and pushed out for a second corner, though the united defence again dealt with the delivery and got it clear.Moments later though, Steve Haslam whipped the ball into the box and Chris Mason managed to get a toe nail to the ball but unfortunately fired it into Ben Foster's arms.
United's Cameron Stewart produced a good moment on 53 minutes as they searched for another goal. His curling ball into the box saw the entire United front line and Bury defence miss their connections, but it came straight back from Cleverly only for Stewart to fire the ball wide of the target from close range.
Danny Racchi produced a shot on target on 55 minutes, only for his effort to go straight to keeper Foster.Another good chance came United's way a minute later when a Stewart free kick brought a clever flick from Wellbeck, but Derbyshire on the far post could not stretch his head any further and the ball flew out of play.
With an hour on the clock, Carlos Edmonson-Rouse conceded a free kick on the edge of the Bury area, Eikrem's fired in free kick was missed by Hewson and Cresswell put the ball out of play with his right knee. The resulting corner saw Hewson shoot wide of the target from the edge of the area.
United doubled their lead on 64 minutes when Rafael Da Silva got the ball down the flank before cutting into the box from the corner, his ball towards the penalty spot fell nicely to Derbyshire who rifled it into the roof of the net.

David Thompson received a yellow card on 67 minutes with a late challenge on Hewson.Chris Mason had a good half chance on 69 minutes when he collected the ball on the edge of the area from Rouse, but his turn and short from just inside the area wasn't quick enough for Foster who dived smartly to smother the ball.
United should have made it three on 74 minutes when Danny Wellbeck split the Bury defence and shot the ball high over the bar from ten yards.
Ricky Anane and Josh Rothwell did well on 77 minutes when they combined to get the ball into the feet of Jermaine Steele just inside the box, though Saturday's hat trick hero wasn't able to get a proper connection and the United defence got the ball clear.
With four minutes of the game remaining, substitute Chris Curran did well down the flank to get the ball into the box for Wellbeck, his fierce drive was pushed out for a corner.,The eventual delivery again fell to Wellbeck who drove it again at goal, only for Carlos Edmonson-Rouse to clear off the line with a brave block.
