Youth lose by the odd goal in 5

Posted on: Mon 09 Aug 2010

Richie Barker took the Shakers Youth Team to Macclesfield Town on Saturday for their final pre-season game ahead of their own campaign starting next weekend at Accrington on Saturday.

The young shakerssuffered an early set back by going 1-0 down after an unstoppable strike into the top corner from well outside the penalty box, but Richie Barker's youngsters responded positively with a brilliantly executed curling shot from 25 yards by Adam Dawson, which found the top right hand corner of the goal, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

The youngsters thought they had gone ahead minutes later but a disallowed goal due to an offside decision killed off any hopes.

15 minutes into the 2nd half and Macclesfield took the lead with a superb drilled shot, from 20 yards out into the side netting. Macclesfield increased their lead through a penalty soon after.

Danny Hudson grabbed a second Bury goal by calmly finishing a flowing move ten minutes before the end of the game to leave the home side facing a nervous finale as Bury chased an equaliser.

Final Score - Macclesfield Town 3 Bury 2
