Following talks this morning, the Board of Bury FC would like to inform supporters of the following....
We are extremely proud of the fact that we now have structures in place that enables us to make the correct, informed, decisions for the club. A player may depart, a manager, or even a key staff member, but behind the scenes we now have such a great team (players/management/staff), all working together, and we will always try to ensure that this remains the case.
Bury FC is bigger than any of the individuals, or even group of individuals, that have left us in the past, and undoubtedly will leave us again in future. We cannot constantly have a situation where we have to rebuild after each departure, and part of our deliberations will focus on this long term stability.
The board realizes that the appointment of a manager is a key role within any club, and it is naturally vital that we get the right person for the job. CV’s have already arrived from many applicants, and we are pleased to announce that the standard has been extremely high.
Furthermore potential candidates have also been identified that are currently in employment, and as always Bury FC will act with the utmost integrity towards other clubs should we choose this route.
We will not be making any ‘quick-fix’ appointment. We will act swiftly if we believe that the search for a manager is having an adverse effect on the club, but at this moment this is definitely not the case, and everyone at the club has the utmost confidence in the abilities of Peter (Shirtliff), the players, and the management team to guide us through the loss of Richie earlier this week.
We understand that our supporters will want to see a new manager in place as soon as possible, but as a board we will make the right appointment at the right time, and we ask our fans to do what they do best, fully supporting club and team, starting with tomorrow’s fixture against Middlesbrough.
