Latics sending a mixed side to Gigg Lane for tonight’s game
Wigan Athletic will send a mixed XI to Gigg Lane for the final home pre-season game ahead of the new season.
Whilst the Latics squad will mostly come from their development squad, one or two first teamers may also be included in the side.
Former manager Graham Barrow will make his first return to Gigg Lane since departing Gigg Lane, whilst former youth team player Adam Dawson is also expected to be involved for Latics. There’s also another Bury connection with the son of a former central defender amongst the Latics Squad. Steve Redmond’s son Nathan looks to be a chip of the old block. Wigan also have the grandson of Johan Cruyff amongst their numbers.
Richie Barker will use this game to get more minutes into the players, especially those players that have been used mainly from the bench in recent weeks, plus he will also be expecting to utilise some players that performed in the 5-1 defeat against Birmingham City on Tuesday evening.
Only the main stand will be open tonight, with home supporters using their normal allocation. Visiting supporters will be housed in the family stand section of the main stand.
Admission has been set at £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for all concessions. Kick-off is at 7:30pm
The game will be covered with full match commentary from Maurice Dickson and Craig Morley on Shakers Player
