Youth Team win again

20 August 2012

Shakers Youth notch up a second win in two

Alan Moore’s youth team continued their superb start to their season with a solid 3-0 victory of Blackpool at Radcliffe Borough on Saturday.

The game started slowly and soon became a scrappy affair with both sides taking the opportunity to test both keepers with no end result, but the Shakers took the lead around the 23 minute mark when striker Tom Pratt used strength and pace to muscle his way past a Blackpool defender before slotting the ball into the back of the Seasiders goal.

The opening goal lifted the young shakers and they were soon breaking out with some fantastic free flowing football but it was to remain 1-0 at the break.

The shakers came out for the second half with lots of confidence after the earlier goal and continued their passing game. The defence were also in top form and the visitors found it hard to get past a solid and resilient back four.

Bury increased their lead on 61 minutes with a stunning solo run from Regan Walker, to score his first goal for the youth team.  Going two in front pushed Blackpool and they began to search for a way back into the game, but the back four continued to dominate their opponents and they could find no way through.

A third, and final goal, eventually came as Bury applied pressure to the visitors.  A stunning defensive header found Regan Walker in space; he quickly converted the chance to notch his second f the game

Blackpool had a great chance in the last minutes from a cross to find a Blackpool player in space in the Shakers area, but his header flashed wide of the target.

With three goals and another three points, this was a game that the youth team never looked like losing

Bury didn't look like they were going to lose with a solid performance from the whole team and the young shakers was very happy to walk away with score 3 goals and a clean sheet.

Next up for the Shakers is a tough trip to Morecambe at the weekend
