Last minute nightmare

15 December 2012

Shakers suffer with another last minute defeat

The Shakers paid the price for missed chances yet again as they succumbed to a late winner at Crewe.

It was a largely uneventful first half for both sides, with the best Bury chance falling to David Worrall, who watched his cross come shot tipped over the bar on 42 minutes.

But it was Bradden Inman who had the final say with three minutes of the game to play, as he poked home a looping cross from the left.

A curling cross from Matt Doherty found Troy Hewitt with space in front of goal on 5 minutes, but once he got his boot behind the ball, he sent it over the bar.

Matt Tootle reacted for the home side moments later, shooting from the edge of the box and watching the ball sail just over the bar.

Mathias Pogba carved open the Bury defence on the left hand side on 20 minutes, setting up Bradden Inman before seeing his shot blocked by the legs of Trevor Carson. The ball then fell to Chuks Aneke, but his follow up effort was also blocked.

David Worrall tried a cross come shot from the left of the box on 42 minutes, forcing Alan Martin to tip the ball over his bar.

A nippy cross from Worrall on 79 minutes fizzed in front of goal, but it eluded Zac Thompson and Hewitt who were both outstretched.
