but shakers go out on penalties again
Bury 3 Preston North End 3 (Preston win 5-4 on penalties)
Bury crashed out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area quarter final on penalties against their Lancashire rivals, Preston North End, after a thrilling encounter.
Preston took the lead three times on 25, 68 and 88 minutes in a dramatic match, but Bury answered back with three goals of their own, including a stunner for skipper Steven Schumacher as the clock ran down.
The game was decided by penalties, with every player converting to make it 4-4, before Gree Wylde saw his fifth penalty saved by Thorsten Stuckman, before Graham Cummins made it a win for Preston.
A gorgeous cross into the box from Steven Schumacher on 17 minutes looked dangerous, but it swirled in front of Gregg Wylde, Tom Hopper and Efe Sodje, eluding all three of them.
GOAL! The away side took the lead on 25 minutes with a free kick routine straight from the training ground. As players gathered at the far post, nobody spotted Jack King just outside the box, who met a corner from Joel Byrom as he paced into the box,
burying it with power.
