Phil Picken eyes strong Shakers start
Phil Picken has urged Bury to get out of the blocks quickly when the new season kicks-off next month.
Bury took seven points from their opening four games last season, their first in League One after winning promotion.
It included a point at Huddersfield on the opening day of the season and a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Gigg Lane.
This season’s schedule is just as demanding with trips to relegated Doncaster and Coventry in the first three games.
Picken believes that last season’s fast start provided the foundation for an ultimately successful first season in League One. And he’s hopeful they can repeat the trick this season.
“We had a good start last year,” said the 26-year-old. “We had some good results against some big teams and that’ll be the aim again this year.
