Richie Barker is adamant he won’t be pressured into buying in bulk this summer but hasn’t ruled out snapping up another bargain
Richie Barker is adamant he won’t be pressured into buying in bulk this summer but hasn’t ruled out snapping up another bargain. Barker has already added Adam Lockwood, Lateef Elford-Alliyu, Marcus Marshall and Trevor Carson to the Bury squad which finished 14th in League One last season.
He has also seen a stream of trialists come through the door at Gigg Lane since pre-season began, all desperate to earn a contract. And while Barker admits he has been impressed by some of the hopefuls, the Bury manager insists it’s going to take a special player to make him get his chequebook out.
"I have to be looking at players that will make this team and this squad better," said Barker.
"There are a lot of people out there that are good players but are just not better what we have got.
"There is no point in bringing people in who are the same as we have got.
"I want players that are going to be better but we will keep looking.
