Zac Thompson reflects on the Bournemouth game and how long before we move out of the bottom four.
“It was a great game to play in, but feels like a defeat after taking the lead twice. It happens but you can see how far we have come because we are disappointed with a draw against a team like Bournemouth.
They’ve spent a fortune yet we are disappointed to have drawn with them, it shows where we are going. All the lads are putting in 100% every game and at the moment we are showing that you don’t need a team full of big names to get results.
I’m starting to find my feet a bit more now with playing every week and I am really enjoying it. I feel that when we are out there that we are not going to get beat.
At the moment I am just looking towards each Saturday, whatever happens happens, but my focus in on Bury’s game on Saturday – not when will Leeds recall me.
We are a good bunch of fit lads and the training that we do is hard, its keeping us fit and we are showing in the games that we can keep going for the 90 minutes.
Apparently that was the 6th time this season that we’ve conceded after the board has gone up, but this was Ethan’s first mistake and I am sure that he will learn from that, but he was outstanding again.
His head is down a bit in the dressing room, all the lads have been comforting him and I am sure he will be fine after this.
It’s one mistake and he will bounce back from it, he is here to learn and I am sure he will do that.
Now its Southend in the cup and hopefully we can carry the run on into the Southend game, if we do that then we will get through. We can’t go into it thinking we can win the game easily, every game is different, we just have to concentrate on doing what we do.
We want to get into the third round and we want to show all the big clubs just what we can do.
We are almost out of the bottom four now, I know the gaffer says it’s not worth looking at the table yet, but you do have a quick glance at it, but with the way we are playing, it’s just a matter of time now.”
