Happy with the goal

25 August 2013

Anton Forrester reflects on his second goal for the Shakers

Speaking to Shakers player following the 2-2 draw at Burton Albion, striker Anton Forrester gave us his thoughts on the Burton Albion game and looked forward to Tuesday’s game at Norwich City.

‘We are all devastated with that last ten minutes, we’ve lost two points away from home but going back with a point is still a good result – we just have to move on now.  Before the game, 2-2 would have been a good result but we’ve lost two points in the last ten minutes of the game.

We did really well in the first half and the manager was really happy with the way we played.  Nobody is angry about the performance, but we are angry about losing two points like that.

When we attacked in the first half we looked a very good side and we will hurt many teams this season playing like that, but we need to work on our defending.

I’m really happy with the goal and the target is to just work hard every game, you never know Blackburn may even call me back, though it is a tough side to get into.

We just have to continue picking up points in every game and try to get promoted.  I just want to play games because Under 21 football is just not competitive as this.

Defenders in league two are tougher and stronger than the defenders in the Under 21s.  I feel stronger already after coming up against defenders like this, plus I’ve been working in the gym so I can get stronger.

The second half was like the Alamo with them throwing balls at us like that, but with so many new players coming in this week we have to work on that and improve.

It’s a long way to go and if we carry on getting three points at home and picking up points away, then we will be ok.

Now we have to concentrate on Norwich, we have no idea what sort of team they are putting out, but they will be a tough team.  We will have to work hard throughout the game.

It’s a good game for someone of my age, I’m young and I just want to play and to carry on scoring goals.  There’s no problem me playing in the competition - that was sorted as soon as I signed.’
