Shaun Beeley speaking on his arrival at Gigg Lane and the Chesterfield gameFollowing his loan move to Gigg Lane earlier in the week, Shaun Beeley was thrust into a completely new side for the opening game of the season against Chesterfield. After the game, he spoke to Shakers Player and gave us his reaction to his sudden departure from Fleetwood and his arrival at Bury.
‘The result wasn’t exactly what we had planned for but we showed plenty of quality in the first half. If we had taken our chances, it could have been a different story. There are positives to take from the game and people have to realise that as a group of lads, we are still learning how to play with each other in a team like that, we can only get better.
I only arrived here a few days ago, and to be honest, I still don’t know all the names of the players that I played with against Chesterfield, but generally in football, you know what to do. They are a great set of lads and they obviously have great ability.
Having only been here a few days, I can already see that this is a great side. The setup here is unbelievable and from what I have seen so far, we definitely have a chance of at least a push for the play offs.
With what has happened here over the summer, I am pleasantly surprised at what I have seen. The gaffer has picked a lot of good players and is trying to put them all together in a short space of time and he has us all working hard in training and I am sure we will get results this season.
Training is obviously different to what I have been used to under Graham Alexander & Chris Lucketti. Each manager has their own mentality, the way the gaffer here at Bury approaches each game is completely different to how the gaffer does at Fleetwood, it’s just something I have to get used to now.
It’s a six month loan at the moment, and then we will see how it goes from there. I was conference player of the year, I thought I did well last season at Fleetwood and I was raring to go in pre-season this year, but things change and circumstances come around. You just have to take the opportunity when they arise.
I’m a Stockport lad so this is ideal for me. I thought I did well against Chesterfield, it’s just a shame about the result but, once we get that understanding, we are only going to get better. I need to learn how to play with Craig Jones on the wing, once I have that we can only move onto better things.
The loan move was quick, Bury got in touch and with Fleetwood having a large squad and a lot of competition for places. They gave me that opportunity and I want to come here and play. I have no idea what happens after six months, we will see how it goes but hopefully if I do well then different things may arise, I will take each day as it comes.’
