Mutual consent takes Sween’s back down South
Peter Sweeney has torn up his Gigg Lane contract and has left Gigg Lane.
Peter cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the Shakers and leaves us with our very best wishes and our grateful thanks for a job very well done whilst wearing the Shakers shirt.
Sweens arrived at Gigg Lane in August 2010 and made a total of 82 appearances, with another 13 from the bench. He also scored five goals for the club, including being named goal of the season for his wonder strike at Walsall last season.
Peter left the club on Monday afternoon after signing off the release on his shakers contract, and has now taken up a contract with League Two AFC Wimbledon.
Youngsters Liam Boswell and Luke McCarthy have also left the club after their contracts were mutually cancelled. Liam never made any appearances for the shakers, whilst Luke McCarthy came off the bench twice during his time at Gigg Lane.
The club would like to extend our best wishes to all three players
