Youth Team showing good progress ahead of their Youth Alliance SeasonAlan Moore’s youth team have enjoyed mixed success in their pre-season preparations ahead of their North West Alliance Youth season.
Their pre-season kicked off with a creditable 1-1 draw at Stockport Sports on 06 July with Regan Walker on target for the Shakers.
They followed up their draw with a 2-1 win at Rotherham United on Tuesday 09 July with Regan Walker again finding the back of the net. Louis Kennedy grabbed the second Bury goal.
A trip up the M62 on Sat 13 July saw Bradford City hit the young shakers for five. Anthony Dudley and Regan Walker (2) were on the score sheet twice in a 5-2 defeat.
Morecambe were the first visitors to Lower Gigg on Tue 16 July and again, the youngsters showed their steel with a 4-2 win – Brayden Shaw (2) and Steve Humphreys (2) on target for Bury.
The young shakers put a real feather in their caps at the weekend when they played Preston North End. Last season’s Alliance Champions were blown apart by a stunning performance from Bury as two Regan Walker goals, plus a strike from Anthony Dudley sealed a 3-0 win, though it was the performance which raised many eyebrows amongst the Shakers youth management.
Alan Moore took his side to his former club Middlesbrough this morning, and the youngsters put in another good performance against a much stronger side, but lost the game 2-1 with Brayden Shaw on target again for Bury.
The next game for the Youth Team takes place at the weekend with a visit to near neighbours Bolton Wanderers.
